Imaginesim KATL 2019 Update Released

Featured Replies

Installed it and briefly stood at a gate with the CS757, which is probably my hardest hitting aircraft. I was pleasantly surprised with the performance, though it wasn't necessarily good, just better than I expected. I think this might be a PMDG737-only airport for me, given that it's my best performing aircraft, if I don't want the FPS to go below 25. Which, I think is still respectable, givne the size, complexity, and business of the airport. Also I love the updated textures. This update really gave the addon a facelift!

I know this is incredibly trivial, but did they model the Yellow and Green rapid exit lighting from the runways?

I checked this last night for you... NO they did not.. But they did include the green center line follow me lighting on the taxi way.

I did see that recently cant remember which airport... Maybe Miami or Vegas?

All in all this is a good update. I am still using my own AFCAD where I have edited parking sizes to better reflect aircraft type parking. I also am using my own placed GSE and also trees that I added from the older version using instant scenery.

Sorry Off Topic a little, I too prefer to alter 3rd party AFCAD mainly because of frequency changes or gate changes. I recently purchased AFX from flight1 which is great and user friendly but doesn’t open any AFCAD that (I think) use PBR.

Which software works on the newer sceneries nowadays.

thx

I don't like that with GSX, you only have 4 gates available at Terminal F. Does anyone have an AFCAD that opens all gates for use with GSX?

You already do.  😉

If you go into Imaginesim Ops Center and select "high density" in the AI Parking Options, it'll swap in a different ADE file (KATL_ADEX_ADE_hi.bgl) with lots more parking spots defined, including 12 gates at terminal F.

PBR textures have nothing to do with the airport (aka AFCAD, ADE, AFX) file.

I think most folks use the freeware Airport Design Editor (ADE) program for airport file edits, which is similar in function to AFX.  From reading the product description on the Flight1 site, AFX was designed for FS9 and FSX--in fact it doesn't mention P3D at all.  Though many FSX airport files do work OK with P3D, there are some potentially significant P3D-specific issues that ADE addresses (like setting draw flags on taxiways, for example).

I use ADE (Airport Design Editor) to modify AFD files. I have modified (or tweaked) just about every AFD file that I have ever used!

I should also mention that if you've already done GSX edits, you'll need to change the afcad_path line in the gsx .ini file you created to reflect the name of the hi-density ADE file (KATL_ADEX_ADE_hi.bgl)...otherwise it'll still be looking for the mid-density ADE file and your edits won't be active.
