I'm not saying that there isn't world satellite coverage, just that there isn't coverage for all seasons and that they wouldn't do it just for a game. And doing seasons with shaders would get better results. It’s a no-brainer. Doing it with shaders would be cheaper, get better results and way faster to accomplish. 9800X3D@H150i // Msi RTX 5090 Trio OC // 64GB DDR5 6000mhz CL30 // 2TB + 1TB Nvme Dell 27" 2127DGF - 1440p - Gsync - 165hz Thrustmaster TCA Sidestick Airbus // TCA Quadrant Airbus // TFRP T.Flight Rudder Pedals // Logitech Flight Multi Panel

Developers who tried to sell core parts of the games were bashed for that. It's ok so sell extra stuff, not something that should be part of the core of the game. Sure they can do, but it would go on the opposite direction AAA studios are trying to follow. From my point of view, we will get seasons eventualy. September 29, 20196 yr At 1:30 we can clearly see a cloud on the mountain on the ortho tile, I hope they will fix that before they release the final product. Also the water looks too flat to me, hope they will correct this as well...

Yes, thats a good spot and pretty interesting although as a brit I should have spotted it first! What's interesting is the fidelity of the movement which the vehicle is showing smoothly drives around the roundabout and the fact that it drives clockwise which may indicate that they prototyped this on a map where cars indeed drive on the left, maybe Southempton in the UK, but more probably one of the Australian cities where they have photogrammetry data for. I'm also curious that the roads are clearly marked in Bing Maps and it probably means this road data was imported into the sim otherwise that would be a lot of handcraft scripting of vehicles, but that kind of makes it interesting to see if they have done any traffic transitioning onto autogen scenery. Oh so many questions, but this stuff isn't so important so it's ok. Facinating stuff.
September 29, 20196 yr About seasons - speaking purely from a business perspective, not a technical one, it's hard to remove a feature that people are used to - if you do that, people think the product is somehow diminished, even if it includes other new features. Seasons have been part of the MSFS franchise for a long time, and they're marketing the new sim as part of that heritage. So I suspect that in some way or other, they'll provide for seasonal variations. It's different for Laminar. While some people would like to see seasons in X-Plane, it's never included them. So if, for the sake of argument, X-Plane 12 came out and there still weren't seasons - you know, Laminar says something like "we want to do it a better way and we're still trying to perfect it" - those people might be disappointed, but it wouldn't feel like the product had taken a step back. I'd be surprised if I didn't find myself flying in MSFS snow... Alan Ampolsk"Ah, Paula, they are firing at me!"-- Saint-Exupery

I would certainly hope so as technology has existed for some time to utilize shaders and other modern tech to accomplish this. I hope to hear during the Preview Series for World that MS will implement this highly important feature. REX AccuSeason Developer REX Simulations

Don’t get me wrong, I love the idea that the terrain and land class will be based on actual real-world imagery. As far as airports go, the default airport layouts in FSX/PSD are based on data that is at least 14 years old, so the new system is bound to be a major improvement. Listening to my local approach control frequency, I do know that there was an aerial mapping survey being conducted in this part of upstate New York over the summer. The aircraft involved were flying east-west grid patterns at 8,000 feet. I don’t know which (if any) of the on-line map providers their photos might end up being used by. Typically, with services like Bing, Google Maps and Apple Maps, when zoomed out, the photos are from satellite, and when zoomed in, the data comes from aircraft aerial photography. The three mapping services mentioned all use different aerial photo datasets in this particular area, with Bing the oldest, and Apple Maps the newest. Correct me if I'm wrong but is the ESP based products the only ones with season variations built in? There can't be many simulators out there and even fewer civilian flight simulators.

I don't want to sound like MS is a perfect developer, but they have way more tools/resources than the other Devs on this hobby. Unless MS lose interest again in developing a flight simulator, I'm sure this sim will be the best on the market (not talking about v1.0, but o the long term). The reason the other sims are lacking features they are promissing for years is caused by budget constraints. MS has a deeper pocket and they seem (for now at least) really interested on developing this simulator as best as possible. 9800X3D@H150i // Msi RTX 5090 Trio OC // 64GB DDR5 6000mhz CL30 // 2TB + 1TB Nvme Dell 27" 2127DGF - 1440p - Gsync - 165hz Thrustmaster TCA Sidestick Airbus // TCA Quadrant Airbus // TFRP T.Flight Rudder Pedals // Logitech Flight Multi Panel
