A stunning preview today but we are still in the dark for...

... ATC, seasons and water physics for the floatplanes. Hopefully we’ll get some insights in October.

According to some of the sites they refused to talk about these aspects right now (including AI, VR and helicopters), but apparently they still have plans for them. It is not guaranteed they will be coming in the final release, but they did stress that Microsoft Flight Simulator is going to be an evolving platform. For example, the satellite data will constantly be updated to keep up with the world. I'm sure they'll get to those eventually, even if they come out in 2021 or something.

Now if you have any idea about the three aforesaid topics

While nothing was said specifically about seasons, I think it was Frooglesim that said they were allowed to fly anywhere they wanted in any weather and lighting conditions and at any time of year.  That implies seasons, but I'd rather someone had mentioned it, as at this point it may have been something they were told not to talk about.

I heard that too. As I didn't speak of snow, I understood the atmospheric weather.

I noticed that too and thought "oh good, he'll tell us a about seasons".

Definitely wasn't clear if it just meant that the lighting, cloud, rain, wind etc would adapt to seasons or the scenery itself.

It was mentioned that the summer/winter sun position and lighting at those times of the year based on a 365 day model would be accurately rendered.  It is also mentioned that real world weather will be modeled so the lighting model will adapt to seasonal light with appropriate summer/winter/fall/spring lighting.  The only thing therefore missing is the ground texturing changes.  I am pretty sure they will not make this a perpetual summer texture sim.  That would be completely incongruent with everything we have just learned about the sim.

Sun position and lighting isn't anything new, but it's nice that they mentioned it.  I'm very happy to see real world weather confirmed, and apparently you can go back years for historical weather, a very nice feature that I use probably more often than I should.

Edit:  I did notice the moon in one shot!  Jcomm should be happy. 😄

If changing seasonal ground textures are not in the pre-alpha version, that doesn't mean they won't be added before release.

Improved ATC would be very nice indeed but we can live with it if it has been lifted directly from FSX.  It is unlikely that they'd eliminate it entirely.

No way to predict water physics yet, but they do have the Icon A5, an amphibious plane, so the water physics shouldn't be any worse than they were in Flight, and maybe much better.  Have to wait and see.

I'm still in the dark about min spec hardware, performance (FPS) and bandwidth required to get the full scenery quality.

Specs: Win10, 4790K, nVidia 1080ti, Saitek Yoke+Quadrant+Radio/Switch and AP panels, VRInsight 737 overhead, Virtual Avionics 737 MCP. 3 x 1440*900 main display + 1024*600 VDU display. NLR V3 Motion seat. Oculus DK2 CV1 HTC Vive VR headsets.

Hopefully you will be able to set a bandwidth cap as well. I don't wanna rob the rest of the house of their videos and games or I will be killed. 😂

I’m in dark with subscriptions. As I read in helisimmer even Dev team is in dark about that.

The previewers say that the team didn't want to commit on anything about specs. One of them said that the machines they tested on, had 2080i.

We also know there will be three ways of using the sim : online flying, offline with cached downloaded sceneries, offline with the default sceneries.

Some of them have said that even the default scenery is much better thant what we have now with a fully loaded (I suppose Orbxified) sim.

While absence of evidence is not evidence of absence, the fact that no one has mentioned seasons yet in several articles and videos leans heavily toward the idea that they've been told not to talk about it.  I want seasons, but I'm not going to base my buying decision on the fact that they *may* not be available, and we're still in pre-alpha so they may be added before release.

Was another topic needed for this? Obviously from here to release date we'll know about it too.

We just received a LOT of information, videos, screenshots all together but no, it's never enough 😛

Too much is never enough. 😄

I think we've heard about pretty much everything else, but these three items have not been confirmed anywhere yet.  I'm definitely interested in seasons, somewhat interested in float planes, and slightly curious about ATC. 🙂

I have read something about seasons and snow in a helisimmer article......As far as I know their will be seasons.
