At worst they can just port over the ATC and AI systems from Flight Simulator X

Software development is not like copy and paste, it's a completely new simulator, you don't just copy and paste then Bam you got your Traffic / ATC. Besides I would rather them Not start with anything in FSX besides having support for Legacy aircraft.

I know, but it's the same engine with several parts overhauled. If they haven't touched the ATC and AI part, using the same old systems shouldn't be too much trouble.

"Port over" doesn't mean "copy and paste."  They've already said they're using parts of the old sim.

At this point I am *very* interested in what the "base sim" will look like with no downloading of content.

Me too ! No cap here but a pitiful connection. The hybrid mode (offline flying+cache of downloaded content) is also interesting. I've downloaded over the recent years tons of GB of Orbx regional sceneries. It sounds like it.

Look at this. Stunning! The simulation of weather and atmospheric effects are incredible. I never thought something like this would be possible within a simulation on a PC.

Where did you see that? I’m still looking for it

I'm still in the dark about min spec hardware, performance (FPS) and bandwidth required to get the full scenery quality.

That is what I would like to know, what kind of super PC's are they testing this program on.

I saw somewhere that their vidcards are 2080Ti's, but that's the only spec I've seen.

as we can say for the moment:

The computers were described as upper-, but not top-, end machines with GeForce RTX video cards, and the internet connection feeding the scenery tested out at about 25 megabits.

Several of the attendees stated they were RTX2080Ti running at 4K

If this sim is X box compatible, there must be a way to turn down the requirements, since X box is by no means, a super computer.

You can turn the settings down, the question is what is it actually going to look like on "normal" hardware at fluid framerates. The Xbox release is likely to be for next gen Xbox so quite a bit beefier than the One S.

The devs stated that their primary plateform is the PC. What they do afterward to dumb it down (if necessary) for the Xbox users is no worry of mine. I am selfish.

I think you find the new XBOX will be compatible with todays high end PC, and 4K should be no problem.

That would be completely incongruent with everything we have just learned about the sim.

I feel what you are saying but I am thinking ground textures are not changing by seasons on day of release.  I am sure people will cry foul but it feels like the team was taking on a radically new approach to creating the world and they had to get a strong base first.  I am sure seasons will later be added but this isn't as simple as repeating ground textures as we get in P3D where somehow the entire Denver landscape is covered in snow like a fluffy blanket from edge to edge (although flying West has produced some extraordinary mountain views where they have truly been covered as such).  Real snow drifts and patches the landscape.  It's probably a pretty major undertaking considering the standard this sim is trying to set in terms of realism.  The world seems to be all about satellite data, not modeling as they keep saying.  My conjecture is that they will eventually acquire enough satellite data over different times of the year and use that to produce different landscapes.  It seems like a lot to pull off for day one release but I don't think anyone would be surprised if they do!
