I'm wondering how many got picked for Alpha 1.  Anyone on here been an Alpha or Beta tester for any other software with an NDA?  How does that work to make sure nobody leaks.  Seems like all people do now days is leak stuff.

I signed an NDA with the makers of Star Citizen as I was picked as one of the so called Evocati Testers. A group of 2k people who get access to very very early and crashy builds. I had to print the NDA, sign it, scan it and attach even a scan of my ID card.

As I have never broken the NDA alone out of respect to their trust they put on me there is always one who doesnt give a s....It always ends up on reddit minutes later by some who think they are Robin Hood and do good things with that.

Check the latest article on FSelite, it states that they are opening alpha 2 on Nov 7th, and will close it mid November

According to the development update, it is the recruiting that will open on 7 November, while the timeline for the build release will be revealed in mid-November. This is when we will know the testing date, which could very well be sometime in December.

i dont see anything wrong here, they started giving Alpha from 24 Oct. and its still going, it just looks like not all Alpha testers ar in at the same time and the NDA is strong with them...

Of course i could be wrong 😉

OK just 1 minute ago got an email saying shortly after Nov 8 we will get access to the build.  Unless things don't go well then they will notify us by Nov 11.  So I can stop checking my email.  And Alpha 1 participants will automatically be included in Alpha 2 .  SCORE!!!

Tech 1 participants are automatically registered for tech 2. I doesn't mean you will be automatically accepted

As a participant in Tech Alpha 1, you are included in the participation for Tech Alpha 2, so no need to register again

Participant, not applicant, which means that TA1 will be automatically rolled to TA2.

Every Microsoft's testing programs I've participated once you are in you receive all the subsequent versions after the acceptance and they keep inviting more people. They will want to stress test the servers, so I bet once you are in, you will have access to all the testing builds (including betas).

From the insider FAQ:

"Participants in these builds will vary with each release "

"Our goal is ensure that everyone participates in the Preview Program. But that doesn’t mean everyone will participate in every build of the Preview Build Program. "

At least participants of the Alpha 1 will be in Alpha 2.

too much, too soon....

It only makes sense for them to include testers who reported issues from tech one to be able to validate fixes in tech two.

Or the whole purpose is to gradually increase the amount of testers over time to see how the servers handle it. They might also include machines with low specs at a certain time, after some optimization was done, to see how these machines will run the sim. These alpha tests will not be all about finding bugs, there's load testing, checking hardware compatibility (from CPU to throttle, yoke and instrument panels), checking performance on different systems and much much more.

I read it the other way. I understood it that it doesn't mean that if you were a tester in alpha 1, you would be automatically testing alpha 2 build and so on. Or am I wrong?

maybe you wrong, in the update for TA1 its indicate:

This states clearly actually "Our goal is ensure that everyone participates in the Preview Program. But that doesn’t mean everyone will participate in every build of the Preview Build Program. "

Emphasis is on doesn't mean everyone will participate in every build.

Registration however is different. Once you register you would like to participate, that's it. No need to re register again
