Nice GA high performance aircraft

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone I usually fly payware jets (the usual suspects PMDG etc) but I have these beautiful sceneries that miss out a little at times due to higher flight levels, high speeds etc

I am looking to invest in a few higher performance GA aircraft and have been looking at my options. Recently I had some discussions with well known people on these forums about an aircraft that had taken my eye, the Alabeo C421.

I am told it’s a good aircraft with some after market mods but it was also suggested I take a look at the Carenado PC12. That was recently on sale but unfortunately I was too slow and the sale lapsed.

Given I was also going to purchase either the F1 or RXP GTN for it, going off sale made it a 100USD purchase!

There are a couple of other aircraft I am also looking at - the Alabeo C441 and the Flysimware C441 which is currently on sale.

I am looking for opinions on any/all of these, I already have the Vertx DA62 which is good however the cost of updating the database when I already have a Navigraph subscription makes me a little dissatisfied and to be honest it doesn’t really float my boat anyway.

Any thoughts gladly accepted.

Barra,

A very good GA Aircraft (not yet released for P3dv4 or above) is/will be the Eaglesoft Citation and the 650 A wait is recommended. Apparently NavData, NOT Navigraph like the Vertxz

I note that you are actually cited 2 twin prop aircraft and in that case, depending on complexity required, have a look at MilViz Baron 55, Carenado Kingair, DA62, SAAB360(?) and their new Embraer. I do not have these but have heard good reports about them all.

Lots of choices out there mate.

My System. Motherboard. ASRock Taichi X570 CPU Ryzen 9 3900x (not yet overclocked). RAM 32gb Corsair Vengeance (2x16) 3200mhz. 1 x Gigabyte Aorus GTX1080ti Extreme and a 1200watt PSU.

1 x 1tb SSD 3 x 240BG SSD and 4 x 2TB HDD

OS Win 10 Pro 64bit. Simulators ... FS2004/P3Dv4.5/Xplane.DCS/Aeroflyfs2...MSFS to come for sure.

I'd try the Flysimware Lear 35...it's very good.  I would also highly recommend the RXP GTN 750.

For pistons I'd go for the a2a Bonanza.... about 180-190 ktas.

+1 for the A2A Bonanza (with the 182 and Cherokee 180 right behind it  ).  RXP is having a sale for a few days... I'm ready to dump my F1 GTN's and go over to RXP.

Flysimware Dassault Falcon 50.   A2A Cherokee, or Comanche or Bonanza for something a bit slower.

If it's about beautiful sceneries then the PC-12 is much better suited than the C421, since you don't see a lot to the left/right except the engine nacelles.

Another important point are the autopilot controls on the PC-12 with their much more 'user friendly' location.

Not to stray too far off topic but what is making you want to switch?

Yeah the Carenado PC12 is actually decent with user mods.  If you're used to PMDG you're not really going to find that fidelity in the GA side of p3d add-ons.  Like we said a2a is really good.  My favorite addon ever, the Realair Legacy isn't for sale anymore.  You can always head to their old site and see if you meet the license criteria.  The legacy supports dual GTN and is turbocharged...will go low/high and slow/fast up to about 300 ktas.

My favorite high performance GA aircraft is the A2A P51 civilian. Great fun to fly, looks and sounds good and can go fast, high and far.
