You can decent in managed = the dot your talking about or open decent = no dot, but you should see that mode on the PFD but then I know nothing about a A330 or AS bus's.

You can use both, just like open climb and managed. Open climb is used when e.g you take off from EGLL and there are a lot of restriction of 6,000ft, but if ATC clears you to say 12,000 if your stay in managed you will just stick at the restrictions so you use open climb. NO dot. Both ways should work fine.

A dot showing is Airbus's way to show your giving control to it. It will/should follow all speed and ALT restrictions. Unless you pull(no dot) same with the speed and you can control that also, same as pulling the Heading again no dot as your dailing in the heading.

Maybe he pulled (no dot, same idea as flch in Boeing) but I’ve never seen it dive like that before. But shouldn’t des pop up on the pfd even under speed control when descending but not in managed descent, I don’t see that in the screenshot.

I had major issues in the past where in managed descent mode the fmc speed would go crazy and drop down so low you would stall out and fall from the sky. But I’ve never seen anything like this.

I believe the APs anticipation to meet the vertical descent profile is offset to what it should be.  Ive been manually starting my descent with V/S to be sure Im on profile, and then you can 'push' managed if you wish.  But its always fun to manage the whole descent yourself anyhow, even in VNAV in the Boeings.

So an advice is needed please, should I go for A330 or for A321 from FSL, the hesitation comes from I already have FSL A320, getting the A321 will be like a similar product with some advantages of course, while buying the A330 -almost similar price- I know it's a new and long awaited plane but I read about many issues and of course it's not a study level like FSL products ................So what would you do guys?

Thanks

Depends on what kind of flying you want to do.  Personally i bought and enjoy both but if I could only have one it would be the A321, currently my favourite aircraft and not simply a stretch of the A320, it flies quite differently.

The A330 has a few things that still need to be ironed out but the A321 is rock solid, so maybe buy that now and buy the A330 down the road once it’s a more finalized product?

I have the AS A330, although I don't own the FSL busses, I'd recommend to buy the FSL A321 and buy the AS A330 at a later date when it might also be on sale.

That's strange since it is only a stretched A320 and it flies basically the same way the A320 does, at least IRL.

I don't know if you are a real world A32X pilot, I am not, but I heard a few (e.g. Blackbox711 or my friend flying the A32X series) saying it IS a different beast (taxi turns, climbing, cruise level, descent effectiveness, touchdown, etc).
Plus it is not 'simply a stretch of the A320' in the (FSLabs) product category. The developers introduced features not (yet) implemented in A319/320 like, for instance, CPDLC, cabin camera or PBR.

Yes, 319/320/321. Of course turns on ground are 'different' due to the longer wheelbase and the 321 requires a bit more time to slow down because it's heavier, but it's neither a 'different beast' nor is it 'quite different'. It was one of Airbus' targets, that there's as little difference between the 319/320/321 as possible in all areas. This was also the reason for a lot of discussions if they should go with a different flap design for the A321.

Well, this is actually what my friend (the A32X captain) said, not me, so I will tell him he must stop saying so. Thanks for clarification! 😄
Since I see you have your fixed view, I will leave the discussion here.

Johnny (flyboy) another IRL easyjet pilot also says how different the 321 Rafal but hey......😀

Sorry we are off topic, i will get out also.

Of course I have my own opinion or fixed view, that's the case with every pilot. This POV depends for sure on total/other experience as well.

If you have only flown A320/321 and nothing else in your career, the difference will be most likely bigger than if you have flown other aircraft, like interceptors and heavies as well in the last 17000hrs like I have.

Ask two pilots about one aircraft and you get three different opinions.

Can you guys please stay on topic. I would not like to see this topic close just because a few here are arguing about two different products.

Mods can you  guys split this topic and create a new one for the user that asked about the other airbus product? Thanks.
