I'm always open to suggestions on how to improve both myself and how I do my job. Sometimes it just makes you think! If enough people are saying the same thing.....maybe there's something there. Perhaps we should take this to the companies that advertise on Avsim. There are a lot more products on the market for FS9 than FS10 right now. There is still a major market for FS9 products. Avsim is supported by money from advertisers, who are supported by money from consumers. There is power in numbers! But you know, sometimes you just have to admit that the cusomer is right! October 13, 200619 yr HiI have an idea, since HiFi Jim has taken such an interest in this thread maybe we could just go to his forum with our FS9 stuff. Is that ok with you Payware Jim???Pete
October 13, 200619 yr HelloCount me in,I am happy with my FS9 setup after spending more than i would like to admit to on hardware and addons but it runs glass smooth.I have bought FSX and i am awaiting delivery but if i cant run complex addons along with Radar contact, AS6, FSnav ect then i will be staying with FS9 for at least a year until the DX10 cards are at a reasonable price and Addons appear that are better than i have now.So please Tom lets have a FS9 sub forum
October 13, 200619 yr I'm always amazed at how the forum members here, myself included, can't take a hint. When as many members as this ask for a little consideration and it is dismissed as it has, it speaks volumes.
October 13, 200619 yr "Just as the "MS Flight Simulator General Discussion Forum" contains all posts relating to any MS Flight Simulation. Once again this shows things beautifully. You are all doing wonders in showing how things work."You are wrong. The posts relatiing to FSX Simconnect and Missions are not in the "MS Flight Simulator General Discussion Forum" Gerry Howard
October 13, 200619 yr Moderator I normally make the move straight to a new version of FS when it comes out but with FSX there are good reasons why FS9 will stay on my system for some time yet. I'll install FSX but use it gradually as new and patched software becomes available. My main reason for staying with FS9 is because of Vista/DX10 issues. I don't want to spend a lot of money on a new system now. I'd rather wait until Vista is out and DX10 cards are available. It doesn't seem unreasonable to ask for a FS9 forum for the many who are in the same boat as me. I'm not anti-FSX but the timing of its release isn't the best for choosing hardware and a new OS.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). October 13, 200619 yr I can't afford much right now, so it will be at least a couple of years before I get a new computer. I will still be using FS9 on my 2.5 GHZ P-4 system till then. With my add-ons it looks great and don't think FSX would look nearly as good. There are sill add-ons for FS9 I am hoping to purchase soon. Just hope vendors will still be offering stuff that runs on FS9.
October 13, 200619 yr I totally agree to have a seperated fs9 forum. Like many others I don't have the money to upgrade all my hardware to suit the needs of fsx!To be honest I'm getting tired to peek every day between all this fsx stuff to filter the infos for fs9.Why we cannot have a vote like these Avsim-surveys?Besides, I think here some forums which are almost dead, so why not sacrifice one of these for a fs9-only?Mick!
October 13, 200619 yr If we consider this thread and an other similar one started today(#3576560) we are quite a crowd demanding a separate FS9 forum. If we consider that those who post are only a minor part of all the readers, there must be indeed a larger number of sim fans unhappy with waisting their time in the meanders of the FSX frenzy. Too bad, Tom does not read us.
October 15, 200619 yr Research tends to show that for any person writing, 1000 to 10,000 will have similar opinions. What may in forums do not take into account, is that there are thousands of people reading, who never post. Some feel their opinions are not important, others whose english may not be up to it as it is their second language. Others who dont type well, etc... But they still enjoy reading or getting the information and help from others.
October 15, 200619 yr Flightsim.com does have seperate forums for 2004 and FSX...If we can have seperate ones for things like Radar Control, and Traffic Tools, etc, it should not be that difficult to make one for FSX...
