Classic Airliners?

DC-10 and L-1011 were mentioned, so here's a vote for the MD-11

Fine.... I'll play.... since "newer" classics is the thing. Give me the workhorse of the regionals, the good ole Saab 340.

Vickers VC10 and Douglas DC-8 would be cool the days when pilots where pilot and not computer operators

How about the ugliest, loudest, and most uncomfortable regional aircraft, the Shorts 360.

The worst flight I've ever had the pleasure to take was in one from Charlotte to Hickory, N.C.  It was hilarious that the door separating the cabin from the cockpit was a simple hollow core door much like you find in older mobile homes.

Thank you.

It could be worse.  They could be listing aircraft that weren't flying yet when you were in college.

It was being made by Aeroplane Heaven in conjunction with Just Flight, with some of the work being done by Just Flight and some by Aeroplane Heaven, but the project then switched back to only being done by Aeroplane Heaven as Just Flight re-aligned its product focus a little bit (basically they got a bit too busy doing their in-house 747-200), so Aeroplane Heaven is still working on the Caravelle. Here's the product page for it:

I think i know my next purchase :-)

Chock, thanks for head up

I flew in the Short Sandringham 7 times back in the early 60's. No pressurized cabin, wind howled through the nose hatch.

Why an odd number of flights?  Well one time, we had to turn back without landing because the old girl didn't have radar to pierce thru the cloud cover.

A good choice for a short-hauler. I had the pleasure to fly the closest relative to a school bus in the aviation world, from Ningbo to Shanghai, more than 30 years ago, with some Chinese passengers travelling standing up in the rear because they had to give their seats to the people travelling with me. An awkward feeling.

I like the middle-ground when classic jets were being upgraded with more modern avionics. Classic jet noise and systems, but the ability to fly RNAV. Like the EFIS and FMS equipped DC-8-73F, 727-200F, or the PACER CRAG KC-135R (Boeing 367-80). The 747-200 would be awesome too.

I'd go so far as to take an MD-10F. Classic DC-10 lines, but an MD-11cockpit.

Edit to add:

Regarding turboprops, I LOVED the PMDG J41. I spent many many hours in the jumspeat of that little wonder commuting to and from Dulles. Would love to see it and all its quirky goodness in the new MSFS. Just need to make sure Asobo gives us a Garrett-style geared turboprop engine model in addition to the PT6-style free turbine.

The J32 would also be a neat addition, as would the EMB-120 or Do-328. I'd take any version of the ATR, or an early Dash-8-200.

I briefly instructed in the King Air sim but didn't like the airplane, so I wouldn't miss it in MSFS.

How about a Merlin IV?

First flight - DC3 taking me and a bunch of Denver enlistees to Kelly field in San Antone - we were transported to Lackland to become 'airmen'.
