Robs video certainly looks better than the promo video. That could have come out in 2008 and still been disappointing. 

Well in his video descriptions he mentions he's using Add-Ons: MSE Utah 4X and Carenado S330. Hopefully Rob will say if he was.

I don't know what it is, but P3D v5 previews look like computer generated images (like all its predecessors); on the other hand, MSFS previews look (mostly) like videos taken in the real world.

That being said, clouds look nice and v5 appears a lot smoother than v4 thanks to dx12. The short vid of FSDT is embarrassing though, in it v5 looks too much similar to v4.

From ESP/FSX They took pieces of code related to flight dynamics (to make a legacy mode available as they said). Also, I think they took ATC code most probably and who knows maybe AI traffic code... But these have nothing to do with the world engine itself. They are pieces of code that can be developed on the side and plugged with any world engine. They can be applications on their own if one wants to make them this way...

One of the devs said very basic planes from FSX would probably work in 2020 (probably ones without DLLs based on existing FSX craft) but no guarantee, so there must be quite a bit legacy code in there.

I said this on one of the FSElite P3D V5 articles, loads of people down voted me, I suppose they don't like the truth.

Well, as an owner of both P3Dv2 and v4, I have to say v5 looks pretty nice.  If FS2020 wasn't a thing I'd likely be upgrading to P3Dv5.

However, FS2020 is a thing, and it's coming out later this year, and in my opinion it looks to be a generational leap not only over P3Dv4 but also this new P3Dv5 too.

Nope, I'm still in a holding pattern and not buying anything more sim related until FS2020 is on my hard drive.  I'm moving on to the Next Generation.

People are commenting how DX12 improves the Fps and smoothness on P3D v5, just wait until Asobo transition MSFS from DX11 to DX12, it could boost MSFS up yet another level past the competition.

Well, I'm buying it but I'm not buying anything for it. Either the stuff I already have will be upgraded free or for a very low upgrade fee. Many devs. have already announced free updates to much of what I have. I'll be considering any update fee's on a case by case bases. But I don't anticipate any developers charging for updates to V5. I'm not giving PMDG anymore money for the same addon that I've paid for now I think 3 times at least.😛

I'm with you. If the addons are updated fast and free that is. No point if I'm only going to be on it for a month, waste of money. I just can't stand FLAT stupid clouds. Those aren't clouds! They're infinitely thin floating walls in current sims!
