April 17, 20206 yr I’m on the road for a couple of days more and I’m looking forward to getting home and trying P3Dv5. One of the biggest complaints I had with V4.5 was the constant long pauses that seemed to be fixed along all of the ORBX region. For instance I cold take off from KBVS and fly direct to Concrete and there was a long pause waiting for me at the same point in route that would last 5 to 10 seconds in V4.5 Have these been fixed in V5?
April 17, 20206 yr None so far, for me. Taking off has never been so smooth. Definitely an improvement. JimE James D. Edwards
April 17, 20206 yr lol...Long pauses have been replaced with CTD's. This release is a joke at the moment. Intel i7 10700K | Asus Maximus XII Hero | Asus TUF RTX 3090 | 32GB HyperX Fury 3200 DDR4 | 1TB Samsung M.2 (W11) | 2TB Samsung M.2 (MSFS2020) | Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280mm AIO | 43" Samsung Q90B | 27" Asus Monitor
April 17, 20206 yr I haven't seen any scenery loading pauses as of yet. I'll be doing some tubeliner stuff as soon as I get an airliner into the sim. Normally in my test scenario which is CYVR to CYSE I get a loading pause just before Squamish comes into into view. Its absense stood out like a sore thumb on my first V5 Flight in there. So far for me its performance improvement 'Check' (In spades) and no scenery loading pauses 'Check' for now.

April 17, 20206 yr Runs beautifully smooth, not a single crash or stutter on my end. [MSI MPG X870E Carbon | 9800X3D (PBO +200Mhz / -20 Offset) | Corsair 64GB DDR5 (Custom Timings) | RTX 4090 Founders Edition (Undervolted) | WD SNX 850X 4TB + 4TB | Antec Flux Pro]
April 17, 20206 yr Performs beautifully for me too on my 8 year old system. The difference being, you have 3gb more of video ram than I do. This really pathetic, you got be honest. April 17, 20206 yr Commercial Member I have big pauses in the settings menu. This is annoying. I'm used to 4.5, everything works flawlessly. In jurisprudence, there is a principle - you look for the person who benefits.

April 17, 20206 yr After adding AI traffic, global boat traffic, (AIG) and Matrix (MAIW) the loading takes longer than before. V5 recognizes double simobjects much better than 4.5. I had to remove a lot of boats, that where double on my system. I also added all compatible ORBX sceneries, LatinVFR (about 6). After this, the sim is not faster than 4.5. The scenery looks better I think. It comes closer to MSFS. Since I can't use my latest addons on V5 im flying again with 4.5 HF3. I wait until the addons are upgraded and installed in V5 and the hotfixes, which will come bring this sim to a better level. At the moment 4.5 is for me the better sim. It was no fault to buy V5 and install it. I cleaned a lot of double simobjects and also reorganized my sceneries and aircraft addons. Since V4 all addons makers had their own installation place. Some go to Prepar3d v4 Addons, others to Ecosystem, some inside the sim, some outside. It is a mess, if you want to change to a new sim, using addons. For ORBX they also want us to have two version, I installed everything in external library for P3Dv5 and made links to P3Dv4. That works pretty good and saves valuable HD space. I have seen, LatinVFR only changed the ADE file. All other had still the same date like before. It is a shame, we have to download all sceneries again just for recompiled airport ade. If 11 GB is going to be standard for flightsims, I get annoyed. I just bought a new 2080 Super with 8 GB. It was an economic question to not buy the very expensive 2080 TI. The funny thing was that I wanted to get v5 on day of release, but changed my mind and decided to wait. My 1st test site would have been FlyTampa's KLAS. I probably would have had the same experience as you. It's an area that has it all and will certainly test the stability of any system. MSFS
