I tried just a two minute flight and it appeared to be the case. I noticed an improvement.

They seemed to be better to me for the refresh rate, not super smooth but better than before the gauges

The refresh rate/smoothness of the gauges seem better and not as stutters

Not sure its a refresh rate improvement (which really never bothered me before).

But the the scrolling numbers on the speed and altitude windows which used to always stutter a bit before appear to be moving smoother.  So maybe there are some display improvements in this update.

Funny it doesn't say anything on the QualityWings website about it being updated to Preapr3D V5 or on the F1 purchase agent. I might buy it once I see it in print.

Aha, I found it:

Prepar3D v5 Compatibility

  • The latest installers support installation into Prepar3D v5.
  • Please note that for this new platform, our 787 comes with BETA versions of TrueGlass and RealLight.
  • You may experience problems with flickering or corrupted textures when reloading the plane.
  • A permanent fix is currently in the works. As soon as a solution is available we will of course provide you with an update.

Where are people seeing the improvements in the gauge refresh rates/animations? On my install, it looks as atrocious as ever. Video showing what I mean: https://streamable.com/tiio36

What in that video is "atrocious"?  I watched it a number of times.  The only thing I can even think of is the airspeed indication as it increases.  If it's that then I must confess it looks normal to me. Maybe a better way to say this is when I fly the QW 787 I never notice the airspeed seeming visually off.  When I fly the QW 787 I compare the experience to flying the actual 787 it is feels correct to me. If I remember correctly the airspeed is pretty much always jumpy as it accelerates.  I haven't been to work since February and I won't be back until after October so I won't be able to compare for some time but as I mentioned, what I see doesn't catch my eye.  This video I found isn't great but I saw some jerking as the speed increases. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jk8MxgjnkDM which is what I expect

If I missing something I would be interested to know what you are seeing that I'm missing.

According to QW forums they have worked on improving the displays.

I did notice an improvement.

If only I didn’t find the 787 so hideously ugly with its weird nose and the cockpit not so boring... but that’s not QW’s fault.

One of thing that put me of the 787 was the VC MCPU text etc always looked blurred but I thought I would install 1.3 and see. All great now. Everything looks good even without HD installed. BTW that did not help all the text in the VC before. So yer, I will give her another go.

Is anyone else missing some cockpit textures in V5?

Yes numerous posts on the forum about it.  I think you need to disable real light

Better get used to that shape if you like airliners. It is the most efficient one aerodynamically for a subsonic airliner; a design profile which minimises surface area to reduce friction drag, but affords a good forward and downward view for the pilots. That being so, and because these days things tend to be designed using computer analysis for the shape, you can expect most new airliner designs which fly sub-sonic, to employ that profile because it is the one which works best.

Ironically enough though, long before all that computer analysis malarkey, when designers had to actually build models and test them in wind tunnels, DeHavilland engineers determined that was the best aerodynamic shape, so that's why their DH.106 Comet ended up looking that way, and of course in a (pre-Airbus) Anglo-French collaboration, Sud Aviation used the DeHavilland findings for their own Caravelle design, which shares the front end structure as the Comet. So at least from the front end, those two airliners were very much ahead of their time.
