Anyone catch the leak posted on Reddit earlier?

I hate to say it, but I agree.  Because of this leaker I finally got to see some real flight videos from MFS.  Approaches, takeoffs, patterns, weather, hangar shots, all on video and not just in static pics.

It's honestly been great.  Now if only Asobo was providing us with the media instead of an NDA breaker.  They'd generate so much more buzz with official media like this.

Ah well.

A sequence from a flight as long as these could reveal bugs, glitches, performance drops etc and of course although all this is very normal for an Alpha, immagine how people would react...

I mean with screenshots and super short sequences, we get a big wave of worries about this and that... Many would declare an emergency thinking it's the R1 version.

This is an Alpha being publicized yet the Marketing style sounds as if it's a beta instead... It's fine to do so, I like it but it gives what we witness in terms of reactions...

So even if these videos make it seem like a finished software, bugs remain as usual in the details... always...

This could be a planned leak, you never know. Think about it, if they really wanted to keep this a locked secret, wouldn't this thread have gotten taken down within hours? Especially after information on how to find the leaks was posted? Now 13,000 people have seen it and thousands have seen the footage. Now I know they delete leaks on Reddit and YouTube, and those might actually be people leaking stuff for real. But really, there is no way this footage has been up for a month without them knowing about it, certainly if they didn't know then they do now. Since it is a Chinese website, there might be more loopholes to go through to get stuff taken down, but really, why would they leave the thread up so more people can know about it? Just a thought, not trying to be rude or judge mental of anyone.

  • I had hoped so much for a classic analog 172 version to go along with that beautiful 152. Too bad.

Actually, I think we will get one...

If you watch Episode 4 of the feature discovery series (Cockpits), you can see what looks to be a steam gauge 172 on the monitor on the left hand side of the screen (in the background, behind Martial Bossard)... The person flying switches between external and cockpit views, and it definitely looks like a 172R, -S or -SP (although I suppose it could also be a 182, but since the screen in the background is so blurry, it's impossible to tell if there's a prop control knob or not).

Hope I'm right....

Maybe I missed it but where is this discussed on reddit? r/flightsim?

Personally, I'm enjoying all the content, leaked and official. I think MS is doing a good job of slowly providing info that represents both the evolving features of the sim and balancing that with a curated look at issues and continued development (roadmap, feedback snapshot, build notes). This keeps interest alive, allows us to follow development daily, and tries (fails?) to manage our expectations.

The leaks provide a raw look at the sim with little context. Is the video sped up? Online mode? Offline mode? Pre cached? Hardware used? What fps? Why 26 fps? The wind gusts in the Sedona vid 👀👀👀. Is that accurate dynamically? The volumetric clouds in the courchevel approach 😍😍😍. All good fodder and discussion for us flightsim nerds but not the best way to slowly build interest while simultaneously managing expectations.

I'm here for it all. I mean what other scenario would have me searching and finding this YouTube vid with 400 views to compare to a leaked video from an alpha on a Chinese streaming video website.

Only msfs....I'm here for it.

Yes it was awesome. I was expecting he would land the plane at the end.

Not sure about that kamikaze ending though but the sim is looking great at night.

Anyone kind enough to drop me the URL for the Donegal one? Only video I haven’t managed to find.

Yep, you could see that happening already with that leak. Less then I would have expected, but still. MS / ASOBO don't need that.

On the other hand, with their own clip they could decide what they want to show. Then again, people tend to find details that might get overlooked - which seemingly rises exponentially with presentation time.

If they go with the NDA approach, in the end it is probably more legit. It shows they have nothing to be worried about to lift the NDA instead of publishing hand picked clips.

That doesn’t make any sense. If they wanted to share these videos with us, they would’ve done so in their official channels. Being tight-lipped on the content they share through their weekly updates but going all out with random videos of poor flying on some Chinese site would simply would simply make people resent the info shared through official channels, which is totally counter to the image and PR they’re trying to build so far.

Read this thread, it is much less critical than the « updates » screenshot threads.

Bottom line is that, for the first time, these footages show us a real time implementation of what is described in the EP Discovery trailers, as seen by simmers like us.

I like it... with its bugs and glitches.

Agreed.. Asobo should just lift the NDA and let the so-called "testers" post whatever they want.

Gotta lift it at one point anyway. 😉
