He said 'it feels like a total new sim' not a completely different LOOKING sim.

Oops, thx for the correction!

I think V5 runs greats but obviously it doesn't have the modern look that FS2020 will bring. It will take some times before all the 3rd party dev convert their plane so I think P3D is here a pretty good option still right now.

TrueSky and EA look pretty darn modern to me. But let's leave the FS2020 vs P3D debate for another thread.

Installed. First impressions:
The sky in the box or flat, the water is like oil, The cockpit is still black.

Waiting for the arrival of delight😏

Get some decent scenery, turn on EA, fly the Maddog - then you'll be happier.

I can promise you that the MD-82 - which is very compatible with v5 - looks beautiful in the virtual cockpit, with everything clearly visible. Leonardo got their PBR right, unlike what you show here.

By the way, those clouds loud dreadful. Are you running some kind of addon that is breaking them? Mine look nothing like that at all.

Best to leave NVidia 3D settings alone in Prepar3d v5.

Also, whilst there may be a tiny, theoretical risk of malware problems with using "install as administrator" with the P3D installer, this has been standard practice for years with FSX and P3D, and I would definitely still recommend that people install this way. In fact, I've never heard an argument against doing this and it's been SOP since FSX at least.

You missed both my points unfortunately.

Restore/Apply is basically making sure all settings are not interfered with and settings are definitely left alone, so we agree here but you seemed to mis-read me that's all.

And again here: Whilst there's probably zero chance of malware with installing P3D, I didn't suggest there was much danger, but the way it is suggested around forums is poor advice to run as admin is not required as it will do that for you if you just run it since that is what is meant by elevate privileges. What a shame you don't get the danger in this kind of poor advice.

Other installers and programs might suffer malware and following the same pattern of misunderstanding security will eventually lead some to trouble. The argument against it is very clear and is part of the Windows application advice documentation. It's been standard practice for FSX and P3D to elevate themselves to admin after running so why bother messing when you don't need to. Run as admin is performed by FSX and P3D installers as they always did and other software designed properly.

Sorry you didn't understand these points but they are very clear.
