What is the proper way to install the update for those of us currently on HF1? Do we just uninstall the client, content and scenery and reinstall the new ones from HF2 and then delete shaders?

Haven't opened P34 in months now but always interesting to see where v5 is going.

What comes next, HF3 or 5.1 and when? Will FSL ever update their aircraft? Will sharklets cost as much as the A321? Find out next quarter, on "My P3D update broke me".

worked just fine without updating it. I didn’t even know I was supposed to.

Yes this seems to be little known, I guess it is because sometimes you're used to older products designed with older technologies and this leads to old habits!

both products are always forward compatible with any new P3D5 release*.
The updates are only needed for auto-pilot coupling.

As long as the new P3D5 release is not breaking compatibility with the SDK, all other necessary 'hacks' implemented in the products which are traditionally version specific are automatically and internally self-adjusted.

It is kind of a little bit of AI integrated in the products! This is lowering significantly any technical debt and let's you enjoy our products seamlessly as well!

The products are self-aware, forward thinking, even with new simulator releases. The only item which requires a new update is the autopilot coupling but we're looking at ways to make it automatic too.

I often say not all GTN are born equal and there are more than the price of the product* or that 99% of the functionality comes from the trainer...

* with our current discount a meal for 2 or 3 at the local fast food. At this price you can't be wrong purchasing a RXP product!

@Peter Z KCLE_EDDN You're right. Anyone wanting to discuss more about the Reality XP products please come aboard our forums at avsim.

Back to the topic and the question: RXP GTN/GNS V2 P3D5 HF2 updates are released.

Re: Dynamic Texture Streaming

Has anyone actually noticed a difference with this on or off with respect to VRAM utilization? I have just completed two identical flights and had identical VRAM usage on both. Values between 5.1GB-6.3GB out of 7.1GB whether Dynamic Texture Streaming is on or off.  Has anyone observed a quantitative benefit to this? Or for that matter a disadvantage of having it on? I notice absolutely nothing different.

Re: VRAM DXGI CTD

So, inspired by @OzWhitey I put my EA back to high and about 5 minutes into my flight at 5.9GB/7.1GB VRAM I got the "Your Dedicated Graphics Memory Has Run Out" message and...IT WORKED. I was able to hit 'Retry' and adjust my settings with no CTD! So, I know, sample size of one, but I was never able to use that option with HF1, so that's very positive if it is repeatable. 👍 if that's been fixed...

It hasn't been fixed. It can still DXGI if you run out of VRAM and forces you to exit.

Still getting a problem with this hotfix that I got with the last one...and actually with V5 overall.  I call it PDF...."Progressive Deteriorating Frames";

What I mean by this is that every flight I take that's at least 200+miles and flying a jet ends up progressively breaking down to frames as low as 4 or 5 and stuttering, pausing continuously so that the flight is basically unflyable. This usually happens when I'm around 60 or 70 miles away from my destination (example KPHL - KBUF).

All I have to do to correct this situation is go into my Graphics settings, World settings and CHANGE a parameter in either Scenery Complexity or Autogen Building Density.  After I change one or both of these to more dense or less dense (doesn't matter) and go back to my flight....everything is relatively smooth again.

Hotfix 2 didn't help this problem.  I never have this problem flying GA aircraft (slower speeds, I guess).   I wonder if there's something that I can do to correct this situation and keep my frames in the flyable range.

Thanks.

Stan

Guess they didn't fix that. it happens in my MU-2 hot fix 1.

Guess not!  Other than that so far looks great, performance is good.

I'm getting CTD worse than HF1 and performance has tanked. lol...oh boy. I'm really starting to think P3D peaked at v4.5

Since on the P3D website it says that only the Client is needed for the majority of fixes I think I am going to do ahead and just uninstall the Client, Content, and Scenery (like I did when going from P3D v4.4 to v4.5) and not do a full uninstall/reinstall. If I have problems after that (I don't think I will) then I will do a full uninstall/reinstall.

Why not just do the Client?  That is what I did.

I installed HF2 using the client method, fired it up, and my RXP GTN750 worked just fine without updating it. I didn’t even know I was supposed to.

The GTN will not steer the autopilot without you updating it.. it will just head North..

Well on the P3D website they do mention fixes and improvements to the Scenery and Content stuff too.
