July 14, 20205 yr I know, NDA, but I just keep thinking about this 😄 40 hand crafted airports in the vanilla version is just excellent, but I assume that we've only seen these in the footage (would make sense). So I'm wondering how the other airports will look like. Same level of detail as P3D? Better? What do you ask think? 🙂 Tomáš Pokorný SYSTEM -> CPU: Intel Core i7-8700K @ 5.0 GHz | GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Ti @ 2027 MHz | RAM: 2x8 GB G.Skill Trident RGB 3200 MHz | MOBO: AsRock Z370 Extreme 4 | SSD: Kingston 256 GB, Samsung 860 EVO 1 TB | HDD: Western Digital 1 TB | CPU COOLER: Corsair H115i | CASE: Corsair Obsidian Series 750D | PSU: Seasonic Focus Gold 750W EQUIPMENT -> YOKE: Saitek Pro Flight Yoke System + Throttle Quadrant, Saitek X52 | RUDDER PEDALS: Saitek Pedals | CAMERA: TrackIR 5

July 14, 20205 yr Moderator I haven't checked every airport obviously, but all of the non-handcrafted airports I have seen are quite stunning. Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
July 14, 20205 yr That's good to hear! Now I'm even more excited and anxious to get my hands on MFS! If this is also true in the Asian regions as well, then I'm in for a big treat, since I love flying in that region and no other sim out there represents it well. July 14, 20205 yr they are not XP11 default airport quality if that's what your are asking for. https://fsprocedures.com Your home for all flight simulator related checklist.

July 14, 20205 yr XP11 has taken years to get to where they are with default airports Via farming user submissions...and even then, some airports near me are still just taxiways. They also vary greatly in quality.
July 14, 20205 yr Would you guys say that P3D or XP11 default airports look better if you had to choose. Shame as xplane do bait anybody and regarding msf 2020 default airports plenty of space to improve them even the default. 40 enhanced airports do not take away Anything but the ground do not even have correct markings on those Edited July 14, 20205 yr by arsenal82
July 14, 20205 yr I've flown to tons of airports during testing and I've been impressed with the quality so you won't be disappointed. And people really need to stop compare MSF2020 with X-Plane and P3D. This sim out of the box blows both sims out of the water, hell even with 3rd party scenery MSF2020 is much better. There's honestly no comparison and most people will ditch P3D/X-Plane because that's how incredible MSF2020 is. Edited July 14, 20205 yr by YVRDXBLHR

July 14, 20205 yr I don't think everyone will ditch their simulator day one. A lot of the 3rd party plane I bought over the years won't be available to me for an extended period of time. As much as MFS 2020 will be an amazing evolution, we will need to wait for all the payware plane to be ported over. https://fsprocedures.com Your home for all flight simulator related checklist.

Offhand I’d say XP default airports look better, (or generally closer to the real airport) in terms of taxiway edges, markings, lighting etc. provided they have been built by someone reasonably competent with WED, which is XP’s free airport scenery development tool. XP does make it easy for users to submit an updated airport scenery to the Scenery Gateway, and once approved, they get inserted into future XP updates. Now this does not apply to truly “generic” XP airports - ones that were created automatically from digital airport data files. Those typically consist of just runways and generic taxiways with no buildings and are generally very unrealistic. That was the state of almost all but the very largest airports in XP 6 or 7 years ago, but is much less so now. Of the two tools commonly used to develop or update airport sceneries, ADE (for FSX and P3D), or WED (for XP), ADE is IMO, much easier to use, but WED gives a lot more fine-grained control of the exact shape of taxiways and ramps, markings, lights etc. with the drawback that it requires more precision and attention to detail. But, as Bill said, the generic airports in MSFS are a whole new ball game. I can’t say much more than that, but I have been very impressed so far.
