July 15, 20205 yr Well, I'm guessing even the none hand-crafted will be very nice. However, I also believe after the first 2 weeks of honeymoon, many will go back to P3D for their favorite payware Aircraft. Just my guess here...might take some developers (I hope not) up to 6 months to port over. And, what about pricing? There might be additional charges for a the new FS installer.

The community gateway works pretty well for XP, with the community allowed to edit airports with default scenery. I don't expect MSFS default airports to be any better than that. A lot of the 3rd party plane I bought over the years won't be available to me for an extended period of time. As much as MFS 2020 will be an amazing evolution, we will need to wait for all the payware plane to be ported over. True. The funny thing is, that for me personally, default MSFS already offers a better set of aircraft than I can have in XP with addons... lol Happy with MSFS 🙂 home simming evolved

I don’t believe Alice Springs in Australia is considered one of the 40 “high detail” airports. However, you can see in the video just how much detail there is at this “default” airport. Start the video from 2:40 I just re-watched that episode thanks to your comment, and it's simply jaw-dropping how life-like the airport environment is with all the ground services and people. No more boring airports which look like you're taking that last flight out of a zombie apocalypse.

You might be right on this, esp. for the more complex airliners. But I am rather sure, that a) the favorite planes (both GA and IFR) will be available in MFS at some point and b) you will have to buy those planes again (maybe with a discount). I could be wrong, but it is surely not only a new FS installer, I guess the planes will have to be completely rewritten to take advantage of the new aerodynamic system, lighting, PBR, systems behaviour in the background,... EDIT: Just have read, that there might a legacy mode for older planes, which means that maybe some could be ported over, they would in that case probably just fly as in FS/P3D and not take advantage of the new flight model etc. To be honest, however, not sure if I´d want that. For temporaray workaround maybe, but ... well, let´s see. Just wanted to point that one out, as I forgot about that or did not know maybe... Edited July 15, 20205 yr by Heavy Metal

I'm glad it was improved in Alpha 5. I think I'm probably going to be doing a lot of flying to the generic airports. KGYY is my 'home airport' as well, as I live only five miles west and slightly south of it. Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

August 28, 20205 yr Well, the nearest airport near me, KCEY, has no buildings. Two other airports I fly to, KSLO and KVIH have no buildings. Some other much smaller airports do have a building or two. I was really disappointed in this, but do really like the sim as a whole. Maybe at some point someone will come up with a way to add our own buildings, as with some other sims.
