Missions in MSFS confirmed

Featured Replies

An interesting job posting from Asobo studio. They're looking for a Mission Designer. https://www.asobostudio.com/careers/mission-designer-mfs-72

This pretty much confirms MSFS will have missions. Sometime after release, or at release if this job posting is for a replacement of someone who quit. Maybe they'll have some missions available at release with more being added later.

Plenty of other interesting MSFS related positions to have a look at for indication of what's coming: https://www.asobostudio.com/careers

This just might be the feature that if done well keeps the huge amount of new to flight sim peeps on board after they've found their house.

The fact they offer various positions is even more remarkable as you might expect jobs to be cut after release. Which certainly will depend on the resonance / sales MSFS will find.

Kind regards, Michael

What do they mean by game mode?

I have never figured out the point of the missions and have never done one.  I did the lessons when I first got FS2000 but then the mission was planning a flight, navigating/flying the plane and getting from point A to point B successfully.  Now that I think back some of my best flights were VOR to VOR navigation in a 727 with no FMC.  Great fun to make it there.

I just hope the sales match the hype of the sim.

Favorite aircraft currently: MSFS Savage Cub

There are already missions in the new sim. I thought this was common knowledge?

Did you ever fly subLogic's Flight Assignment: ATP?  It contained 96 pre-structured Career Flights and many of us flew all of them.  ATC guidance and post flight evaluation/scoring.  Those Career Flights gave birth to the the world of Virtual Airlines.

No I did not, got in after sub logic.

Air Transport Pilot.  The elevator response was so twitchy that I couldn't fly it.  In those days I didn't know how to get into config files and fix it.

Looked like a pretty good sim though.

At least for me, mission gave a challenging flight with a backstory, and that's about it. It is really nice to discover new areas of the world, and to be rewarded after many attempts.

Interesting. If there’s any legitimate authority of what the sim’s abbreviation is, then surely it’s Asobo themselves and they are clearly using MFS.

Preorder injection of money means new recruitment for the next phase(s).

UI programmer to me suggests VR since the UI is already done, so why do you need more? Right from the Sept preview event they said the biggest thing to consider for VR is how to interact with the cockpit.

3D artist suggests more airports, planes and/or hibernating bears.

The mission designer was advertised back in May.

I don't really care about single individual missions much, but a career mode similar to Flight Sim Economy built into the game?  THAT would interest me greatly.
