So, do you recommend I add him to my twit filter or not?  Is the discussion entertaining enough for it to continue?

In my experience, the people who have the extensive block lists are usually worse than the people who are on the extensive block lists.  Might be just me, I never block anybody. Agreement is boring.

Because the market clearly accepts a half-assed effort. Defends it even.

Then don’t buy the game.

You’ve dedicated 40 posts over the past two days to venting about the ATC, even though no other flight sim has launched with an ATC system that would pass your standards.

But to call this release half-assed is laughable, and insulting to everyone who has put years of work into the technological breakthroughs in display. Breakthroughs far more significant than your ATC gripes.

Wait until your after-market ATC product is available to buy the sim. Or play on VATSIM with real people and real protocols.

But your nitpicking on this topic has moved well beyond reason.

Half-assed my word not allowed. (Edit half-assed is ok, but the first three letters of that second word aren’t? Ok...)

I find having a well tempered block list does wonders for my wellbeing.

I didn't say it was the end of the world.

No, but you did say it was the type of instruction “never given in the history of aviation”, so we might think you’re getting overly emotional about your own misunderstanding.

It looks like we might have to treat the atc in MSFS as we have to in XP (and I’m assuming P3D?), as an immersion booster but not a reliable instruction feature. I mean Xplane’s atc seems to do nothing but vector me into mountains. The usual response to these types of thread is “use Vatsim”.

Defending something from 2020 because it's about as good as something from 2000 is absolutely absurd.

I'm unfamiliar with XP, so I can't comment on it. But I do (or did) expect more from a brand new, from-the-ground-up sim in 2020. But hey.

People who post completely irrelevant nonsense just to get attention richly deserve to be blocked. I don't mind arguing or disagreeing at all. I do mind what is essentially spam.

My list is two, by the way.

Hey Zeitgeist!  Now we can talk about him behind his back right in front of him, and he won't know what we're saying! 😄

I'm still interested in what existing flight sim ATC system lives up to his standards.

This is correct. The people who actually know the rules in the real world have confirmed this is allowed.

So it's allowed to vector IFR aircraft straight into a mountain? Right. Understood.

And I never said clearing an aircraft to some random altitude like 8,800 feet wasn't allowed, I said it wasn't done. And it's not.

Please do.

And as I said earlier, I don't use existing ATC systems. And my standards are pretty low:

- Correct altitudes

- Don't vector me into mountains

It's no wonder we're getting what we're getting if nobody cares. And it's even less of a wonder if they used GTA testers.

Years ago, I played around with PRO-ATC/X for a while, which was probably the most capable modern ATC addon for FSX and P3D. It was mostly IFR and commercial aviation-focused though.

That's just it.  People DO care.  It's just no one has quite figured out how to do it.  Why has no existing ATC system done it?  Honestly, I have no idea.

This thread does not confirm the hypothesis that people care. I've basically been mocked for ten pages about this. Which is fine, but it's disappointing that we're getting this. It's certainly not what I expected from watching their ATC/IFR video. But the even sadder part is, this will not be improved. I will fall off my chair if they even add a second voice, much less a third.

So we're getting sub-par ATC, and that's that I guess. Oh well.

This is turning out to be more fun than the sim itself.

Why are you worried, since you don't use it?

May all your landings be safe ones!
