August 19, 20205 yr Hello all, Just to add my cuppla cents ... Initial download and install to specific SSD drive E, whilst lengthy at 6 hours, was uneventful, smooth and trouble free. For me, there was no confusion about where it was going to be installed or the process to follow which ensured just that. I thought it was straight forward. My problems started after that install, in that I had problem setting up controllers. So, not finding a way to exit, I went the control alt delete route and then tried to get back into the sim. NO .exe icon on the desktop. This was eventually solved for me by a suggestion to go to Start, scroll to MSFS and then copy that to the desktop. Bewdy, as that worked a treat. Back into Controller config and I spent a considerable amount of time trying to nut the process out. To my mind, the process is not very intuitive, but I did manage to get most of it sorted. the main points are 1. MSFS did not recognize my Saitek Trim Wheel so that had to be manually configured. 2. I cannot get my throttle quadrant (1 of 2) to accept throttle reverse. It will accept the allocated key but does not retain it. The same applies to both quadrants. 3. Elevator trim (trim wheel) is just too erratic in flight. the slightest movement will put me into a power climb or an unrecoverable power dive. I tried adjusting sensitivity to no avail. 4. My Rudder pedals braking is broken so I allocated the key just below the hatswitch on the yoke, to braking. That works just fine, but only once, The second application of that key changes the cockpit view to the right and back slightly, and does not apply brakes. The same thing happens if I reload the flight. That key only works once. 5. I cannot find a TO/GA command to allocate to button 3 on the yoke. Until I can sort that mess out, the sim is a frustrating but beautiful thing with huge potential. I have to agree with others who have stated that this should have been better thought out before release. However, I believe Asobo and MS are watching these forums and will take action to remedy all the faults in the short term. I also have to express some surprise that apparently none of the alfa and beta testers did not raise any of these issues. Lastly, please note that this post is not a cry for help ... I shall do that in another thread if I cannot sort these problems out. Issues raised are for information only Regards Tony Tony Chilcott. My System. Motherboard. August 19, 20205 yr @himmelhorse I was having a lot of the same issues and some of them were due to multiple inputs assigned to the same button. It's not always obvious this is happening. I should bloody well get to install it on the drive of my choice. So I pre paid for the deluxe which installed a basic file. I then moved the app to a new M.2 drive I purchased. Today was install time. I aimed it where I had moved the app and sure enough it wouldn't install. I then had to go back to where on the C drive MS wanted it. Thankfully my windows install is on an SSD 1 TB drive and went there without a problem because what MS insists on it gets. I want to put this on the M.2 drive though!! Any solutions would be welcome. I have two 2 TB M.2 NVME drives and use the 2nd one only as a clone I update periodically. I can dual boot to either drive. The MSFS install on the same C: drive was always my intention. Everything installed flawlessly, and performance seems remarkably good. Mainly learning more about setting up controls, and hoping my favorite features in the P3D world work their way to this phenomenal new engine. Plenty to learn about. I will miss seasonal changes big time, so for the time being I will likely spend more time in P3D 4.5 than in MSFS, monitoring for more optimization and feature changes if they are in fact coming. Right now I need to find out if it's possible to get top-down view and unobstructed forward view. Anyone know if and how? August 19, 20205 yr RamonB, Thanks for your reply/response. Please note that I used the word "apparently" and that was for the specific reason of NDA. I can very much appreciate that whilst some of us (consumers) are frustrated, it may well be we are much less frustrated than the testers. At least we can hope for changes in the near future if enough users have a whinge but be polite about it. Asobo have said that they are listening to the community...long may that be the policy. Why worry? The Azure servers aren't just for this sim you know! MS have thousands and thousands of paying clients using Azure Cloud. I seriously doubt that MSFS usage will represent barely more than a rounding error on their balance sheets. Fr. Now I dont know what I should do. You need to read the "reviews". It was people complaining about that they needed to download 90mb, then another launcher, and then wait for the 90gbs to get downloaded. Plus it will count game time as soon as the Installation Launcher was opened, so they didn't have the choice to get refunded within two hours gameplay time. Steam addressed this a day after. It wasn't related to the game at all. Edited August 28, 20205 yr by tangerine My Youtube Channel (P3D/FSX/X-Plane Videos and much more!)
August 28, 20205 yr Judging from the way Asobo pushes out updates for the sim, I am not at all optimistic for the future of FS2020 2 weeks to fix download issues is a joke when they have 100+ people in the development team. Most likely Asobo have already shifted their focus to other projects given the awful launch of FS2020. Alvin Lee / WSSS
