Any way to turn off cockpit "shake"?

Featured Replies

Beyond me why you would want to disable this - so much immersion to be had from head movement camera effects

in fact I think adobo need to add additional head movement effects for bumpy runways - p3d a2a had it much better in this regard

Of course you don't have to disable it if you don't want to. It's just a way to smooth things out if it's bothering you to be constantly zooming in and out when you're trying to change a setting on the panel.

And perfectly smooth air does exist. 😉 I actually like finding it some times...

On the funnier side....@Hippo :

Would you mind if I fix the title of your post so it doesn't sound like you are standing at a urinal? 🤔 I'm assuming you meant cockpit.

You may need to switch the flight model from "Modern" to "Legacy"

But seriously, many thanks for the reply.  It's nice to know that such an option is available.  Really, I think MS/Asobo should offer the option to just turn this off.

As for me, I've just bound the HDG change to my joystick.  It'll do for now.

I tried but was not able to set the zoom to right mouse+scroll - thats where it belongs as right mouse is the look around mode anyway 😞

Put it to press on the wheel itself (3rd mouse button) + wheel rotation.

I think like in all games there should be a menu item to enable/disable such things. That way both kinds of player are happy.

I also do not like those exaggerated camera movements to simulate shakes and such. I dont have MSFS but have seen many vids and also Ive tried similar plugins for Xplane (Headshake) and uninstalled them in a hurry!

It's kind of like depth of field and motion blur,  why would I want my screen to be blurry? I turn up graphics setting to avoid that 🤣 I always turn those off. I mean, don't our eyes do this anyway?

I actually like a little bit of shaking, when it's appropriate. After all, that's what adds to the realism. But like the OP, I had trouble changing headings, altitudes, etc. with the mouse wheel before I eventually assigned those functions to the joystick.

The need to turn it off via the weather function came to me when I was trying to shoot approaches. Generally speaking, the lowest visibility approaches have relatively smooth air and I was having trouble using the AP knobs with all of the bumping going on.

There needs to be a "Fogged In" weather preset which allows for the visibility to be nice and low and still be able to hand-fly the approach without getting bounced around so much. For now, I'll just keep turning off the wind.

The problem is when you take off with 4 knots of wind slightly to the left - variable if you like - the movement is not realistic. It's overdone - needs to be toned down a bit.

Then it'll be perfect.

Oh no! The "non-sim" "for gamers" is too realistic!

I couldn't turn the nubs on the G430 as everything is moving around. Also it would be great to have 2D pop-out window to see better and you don't have to zoom all the way to the gps to be able to read and see everything correctly.

Negative on that.

I'm a real pilot with over 500 hours on SEP - PPL.

Realistic - it ain't.

I want more vibration head shake effects like in active camera or XPR in XP11 !! We need touchdown effects !!!

As I use the mouse wheel to change AP HDG, it gets very old, very fast, that the knob "moves away from under the mouse cursor", and I change the view zoom.  Arrgh!

Preach on my friend. That exact scenario is the bane of my existence every flight

Set a view to zoom in on the panel. Makes it easier to turn knobs even with movements.  Since we don't have pop outs.
