Any way to turn off cockpit "shake"?

Featured Replies

I don't mean camera share (sorry if it's called something else, I don't have the sim open at the moment) in the options, which I have already turned off.  But the effect where the whole cockpit jiggers about slightly (I presume to simulate turbulence).  It can make it rather tricky to click on small buttons and turn knobs.

I dont yet have the sim but this "feature" would annoy me so much!

As I use the mouse wheel to change AP HDG, it gets very old, very fast, that the knob "moves away from under the mouse cursor", and I change the view zoom.  Arrgh!

Try adding TrackIR in to the mix and it's nigh on impossible. Easier to switch the Automatics off!

Hippo - I feel your pain about that cockpit zooming if you don't hit the whatever dial you're trying to adjust. Absolutely had enough of that.

Yes in A320 it is impossible to push/pull HDG/Speed knobs.

MS please come up with some kind of "motion freeze" button or an active button state where you can still move the mouse but the inputs belong to the active button until you release it.

Also would love a way to fine tune the turbulence and head shake affect we get inside the cockpit. I really hope Chaseplane makes its way over to MFS!

The camera shake can be disabled in the Options -> General -> Cameras page

The head-bobbing acceleration effects can be turned off (and possibly reduced) in the cameras.cfg file for each acft...in the appropriate camera definitions (e.g. Pilot/Virtual Cockpit) there is a setting "MomentumEffect=1"  0 turns it off.  I am not sure if intermediate settings like 0.5 scale down the effect or not.

You may need to switch the flight model from "Modern" to "Legacy" to make the .cfg file changes have an effect.

If you're using TrackIR it's probably easier to just remove the zoom from the mouse wheel altogether. Makes the process a bit easier.

I tried but was not able to set the zoom to right mouse+scroll - thats where it belongs as right mouse is the look around mode anyway 😞

The quickest way I found to, at least, minimize the turbulence effect is to turn off the wind layer in the weather toolbar. It's at the very bottom.

Bring up the toolbar. Click on the weather button, then just click on the little blue wind icon in the lower left corner and delete the wind layer. It smooths things out for me instantly.

Every time you select a new weather pattern, the wind layer reappears. You can see it go back and forth from bumpy to smooth instantly.

lol and where is the fun in that, no wind????
