Anyone else missing rain effects?

Featured Replies

As the title says...since MSFS was released i flew almost every day using live weather and even though i flew intentionally through what i thought was a rainshower i didn't get any rain effects on the windshield till now. All effects settings are set to ultra.

Am i missing something here?

Best regards,

Tom

Don't think I've ever seen rain either (not even little drops), even though I've flown though numerous clouds.  Only been using live weather.

I've seen some but only a very brief couple of drops and then it stopped.

I've seen rain when flying through a rain shaft below a cloud.  The effect can be subtle in light rain.  Look at the side windows if you don't see anything out the front.

I've definitely seen it when flying in and out of storms. Not sure why you wouldn't be unless there was some sort of install error?

It's because the rain only seems to fall within the actual rain shafts, from my experience (albeit limited testing experience so far). If you're not in one, you won't get any rain - eventhough widespread drizzle and cloud moisture is a thing, I haven't been able to get that effect in those conditions.

Kind of amazing, don't you think? 😄

I remember the first time I saw a rain shaft when flying and just had to divert to fly through it.  It not only looked right, it felt right too.  I'd say it sounded right but you'd never hear rain hitting the windscreen over the noise of the engine. 😄

Oh I agree, it's incredible. Only issue I have with it is that - especially in my area - rain shafts are actually VERY large and can put down a drizzle in about a 40 square km range easily.

Ice does indeed work on my side. Rain seems to be bugged here...

I haven’t gotten rain with live weather but when use manually selected .
live weather currently have a lot of problem especially over USA - wind aloft 3kts everywhere and any altitude

I also read somewhere that in order to get the live weather working properly is you set the weather on the left side of the screen to preset (not live) and then click the live button on the right side of the screen along with the live weather function (where you select the preset of few, scattered clear etc) sorry I can’t remember the actual headings of the windows in msfs yet but essentially there are 2 locations you can select live weather, it needs to be selected on the right side of the screen when setting up a flight...Not sure if this is factual but it’s what I was told?

I've gotten rain with live weather but winds aloft have been no more than 6 knots.  I'm not sure what's up with that.

I gotta find some rain. But I want to fly to Europe via Greenland in Caravan . I heard folks there have wind aloft with live weather !
