the jet sounds are terrible

loving the sim and am so excited for the level it is now at release however, the preview videos seemed to have realistic sounds and one preliminary video microsoft released showed painstaking realism in sounds, recorded and used..... bah! the jets have terrible sound, the engines sound like a tornado.... no high speed fan, no whine, no buzzsaw ! Nothing like P3d nor XP11 payware jets.... or yes, famous zibo where sound is so word not allowed real....

I am anxious for the first real sound set release ! I am sure somebody will do this soon as it can't get much worse.

At least the GA stuff isn't too bad.... but as of now we need

better engines, roll, wind (no wind sound is present) reversers, gear drag, flaps (not a dumb blender noise) etc etc

I love the sound in the A320. Too bad the rest of the airplane is average at best.

Sounds are perfectly fine, for me.

I think you proved your own gripe there. "Nothing like the P3D or XP11 payware jets". I suggest you read the latest issue of PC Pilot where they interview Asobo and they answer questions about how far in depth they wanted to go with the default aircraft and why they did so. I feel that the default aircraft are by far the best default aircraft we have ever seen, and they sound great.

Is it done yet? When will it be released? Will it be freeware or payware? How much will it cost? Any updates on the progress? Will it work for Xbox? Can I be a beta tester? How's the performance in VR?

I would love improved sounds for the A320, 747 and 787. They are missing that loud, low frequency rumble that I love to hear and feel when taking off or when it does a fly by during take off. It really hypes me up when I'm at a busy international airport and I see a 777 about to take off. I get so word not allowed excited waiting to here those Godly GE-90's spool up. Man that sound is pure eargasm. I can feel the vibration in my chests. I would love to have that recreated as close as possible in MFS for plane spotting.

the airliners engine sounds are not real ... they are all the same, and not realistic at all... no high bypass fan, no changing pack sounds no nothing..... what we have in zibo, or Toliss, or PMDG is real. Hey im loving 2020 so far, but the sounds are not good.. but I believe will be fixed by somebody capitilizing on this... and that is fine as far as i am concerned... but the sounds "should" be a priority, they play a huge part of we in the cockpit listen to , hear and are a part of healthy or not healthy things in the cockpit

I will say this again, you are comparing sounds of DEFAULT aircraft to Zibo, Toliss, PMDG and so on. I'm afraid your expectations for a default aircraft are a little high. Just be patient and we will have some really great third-party aircraft in this sim soon enough.

But, didn't they said in one or several interviews that they spent a lot of time and money on microphones and recording devices? So where did those sounds go to?

Yup, they went to all this effort, spent all that time and money, so that little companies that couldn't even generate this sims monthly advertising budget with their total yearly profits can do a much much better job......

Sounds legit.

Just wondering how many people complaining about the sounds have ever listened to them in real life from the cockpit of an airliner. As a passenger, you are generally much closer to the engines and don’t benefit from the additional noise protection that the pilots have.

I think we need a 707 with piston-engine noises, as in the movie "airplane". 🤣

Having said that, you can count me as one that's pretty happy with the sounds.  At least it doesn't have bugs like in FSX where the flap-motor noise would continue when the flaps stopped moving, or the volume would change when you switched views and then not change back when you returned to the previous view.  I guess if I had to put numbers on it I'd give FSX about 4/10 and 2000 about 7/10 so not perfect but an improvement.

Yes, this is the most important area for me by far! I'm a total aircraft audiophile!

Unfortunately, the particular aircraft that are modeled in the sim don't sound that impressive in real life, so indeed have boring sounds in the sim too. The 747-8 for example with it's GENX engines do sound quite boring, other than the spool up sound. You'll have a hard time finding any video on youtube of a 747-8 creating buzzsaw sounds like its previous RB211/CF6 powered -400 counterpart! They also don't have a particularly loud jet blast sound from the rear.

As for the A320NEO, exact same again. The LEAP 1A engines sound absolutely nothing like the CFM56/IAE V2500 with their excruciatingly obnoxious buzzsaw on the A320CEO! The A321NEO with LEAP 1A does actually have a bit of buzzsaw, but only at very high power settings.

The 787-10 is a bit of a mystery to me. Only because they modeled the Trent 1000 engines, but in the FMC it says they're GENX engines, so this is a moot point. The Trent 1000 sounds very similar to the GENX/LEAP 1A on spool up (sadly that's just how these ultra high by-pass engines are going 😒). But it does differ from the other two in that it does indeed make a buzzsaw sound, but mostly from withing the forward cabin rather than externally.

Now, if MSFS included the MD-80, 737, 757 or any other very distinct sounding aircraft, I'm sure they would have captured the sounds fairly decently and it would be impressive! I think people just aren't used to these new engines IRL yet, they don't sound like what we're all used to!
