Update coming

Featured Replies

Tomorrow, the release date of the update comes. Not the update...

I think people really misinterpreted the announcement last week.

Also, I was honestly hoping smaller patches would come along the way (maybe weekly) to fix the atrocious issues with the installer / weather not working etc. if they were able to get any of that done.

IF the update is that big, then I hope it's a refresh of the satellite imagery from Bing Maps (the only update requiring that much data). Bing Map data for my region is pretty rubbish at the moment.

I feel it was unnecessary of Asobo to add that wording. I don`t know why they did not just say that a patch would be coming, and whenever they had a date ready they would announce it.

I guess they felt some pressure to let people know that they were working on it, but that had to be assumed anyway.

I just hope they will add a bit more than just fixing the installation/download issues. I agree with you that I had thought they would push out some hotfixes at a higher frequency. Especially now in the beginning.

Bing map updates will come every 2-3 months.

Since this is basically still in beta, rolling updates would have been nice (probably not practical though). Tomorrow is another day, let's see what it brings.

But maps are not part of the client software. The whole revolution with MSFS is that the map data is streamed from Azure to the clients. Only the most basic map data is downloaded to support offline mode.

My understand is the update/patch they're announcing tomorrow is to address technical issues with installing and downloading the sim. I assume all other updates will be done via hotfixes but who knows, they might roll out one big update.

I'm sure Bing has much better imagery than what we're being shown. Why they won't stream it, is a mystery to me.

79GB for the first update? ordering a data center ...

BING maps data aren't a part of local installation, so those will not be improved by downloadable update. But if they improve some scenery, they upload those data to scenery streaming servers and when you will fly, you MSFS will get an improved scenery automaticaly.

That should include water masks...I hope.

Or not.

80GB of updates...did anyone literally LOL when they read that!? I feel like that kid in the 6th sense... "I see dead servers"

If you all believe it's an 80gb update then you will believe anything.
