Reshade + FS 2020

Featured Replies

These are nice shots and show what ReShade can do but even me a huge RS fan have to agree with many others on here that the originals look better. The sunset ones are the only pics where RS makes a nice tweak. However as always these things are incredibly subjective.

It seems many use ReShade just for the color vibrancy and pop which works well only in certain areas (tropical island, coral reefs, sunset/sunrise) but it has other neat features too like sharpen/blur, ambient light etc.

The mistake I see made in many screenshots is that many users go overboard with the saturation, bloom etc. This is why FSX and P3D videos with names like "ultra realistic" look like cartoons.

ReShade is wonderfull for games without art direction or old or not well coded like PUBG, XP11... In MSFS you have an extraordinary art direction, realistic in most cases. I don't  see ReShade utility, less FPS, more instability for few (none in my opinion) graphic quality increase.

The amount of filters is huge, and results may vary, but there's no doubt even the great MSFS can be improved upon.

No need to install Reshade however when it's already built in (for NVIDIA users):

I have absolutely no fps drop at all.

Thanks for taking the time to create and post those images. Its an extremely good list of comparative shots to demonstrate what the tool can do but again it comes down to personal taste ( and that can change over time as well).

For me some of those shots look slightly oversaturated as the vibrancy is increased to a level where it is definitely noticeable. I do prefer the originals.

The issue I have with Nvidia Experience is it only supports a limited number of games, so you can not use it is a general tool for all games. For MSFS yes it works as its one of the supported games, for others not. I am not sure of the development, path of the beta version but I am hoping it will include more titles in the future.

I disagree with most of the comments here...I installed I like it so far.  The screen shots are an improvement in my humble opinion...the default clouds are not dark enough below the sun..

It's clear that the sky environment is overexposed, even if just a little.

You can fix this by using the Brightness/Contrast filter (either in Reshade or NVIDIA Freestyle) and setting "Highlights" to -50% or even more. Since the clouds are always the brightest part of the image (save for a white plane), that works perfectly.

Ahm, but I have to install reshade first, right?

Yep

How ? I´m using ReShade filter over NvidiaFreestyle shaders and and have shown it in the MSFS Forum - but how to install ReShade - FlightSimulator.exe is a locked file ?

Looks pretty but I think the original shots tend to look more realistic of what you see in real life.

When these shader mods started to become popular years ago, I’ve always felt that the results, while looking pretty, didn’t necessarily reflect a true representation of what we see naturally.

I agree!

As far as I'm concerned installing ReShade will only work with the Steam version of the game.

Unless, like in RTSS just typing in "flightsimulator.exe" works.

If you are using windows store version it doesn't work otherwise just run reshade exe and select the game.

Thanks, that´s clear - procedure of ReShade is very well known for me but - that means that people with windows store version will never be able to use ReShade with MSFS ? They should remove the system protection, I want to use the file on my computer as I want, or it can be deactivated somehow ? All other folders and files I already have in my ownership, but unfortunately it does not work with flightsimulator.exe !
