September 1, 20205 yr Hi guys, Just seen they announced the RTX line up. I think ill be going for the 3080 in this case, twice as fast as the 2080. 3070 seems amazing too faster than a 2080ti for a third of the price. what cards will you guys be going for?. I7 10700K 16GB 3600MHZ RTX3080FE
September 1, 20205 yr I guess prudence would say wait for RDNA2 before making such decisions? 🤔 Bernard
September 1, 20205 yr I’m no expert in this area but for me to decide I need to understand what’s more important speed or vram as 10gb doesn’t sound like it’s future proof especially when we have VR on the way.
September 1, 20205 yr 2080Ti has 11GB of video ram, and the 3070 only has 8. I have a hard time believing the slide that it is faster than a 2080Ti, but until we see actual 3rd party benchmarks,we won't know.
September 1, 20205 yr Excuse my ignorance in these matters but is there likely to be a 3080ti launched later or will there just be the 3080 as the top of the line in the 80 series? 787 captain. September 1, 20205 yr I was considering the 3070, but now pricing is out that 3080 is looking very tempting! Gary Davies aka "Gazzareth" Simming since 747 on the Acorn Electron
September 1, 20205 yr 13 minutes ago, viz said: I guess prudence would say wait for RDNA2 before making such decisions? 🤔 Yep. The same leakers that were totally spot on about Ampere (predicting Samsung 10nm 16 months ago and exact GA100 die size 7 months ago) are saying that we should be excited for Big Navi. It is also hinted that NVIDIA could resurrect the GA103 for the RTX 3070 Ti or equivalent since GA104 is no match for it. At last we can stop listening to the leakers that were suggesting Samsung 5nm, traversal co-processor, NVCache and so on. 4 minutes ago, Furkmyster said: I have a hard time believing the slide that it is faster than a 2080Ti, but until we see actual 3rd party benchmarks,we won't know. Only very slightly faster it seems, within margin of error. It might be slower at higher resolutions due to less memory bandwidth, unless they have improved memory compression again. Apparently the gaming Ampere whitepaper will be out on the 17th so we'll know more then. That slide comparing the high-end cards is extremely vague, and while the RTX 2070 Super is shown to be higher than the GTX 1080 Ti, it starts losing at higher resolutions as well.
September 1, 20205 yr Subject to move in video card, it is hardware. 3090 for me. Guillaume ASUS ROG STRIX X870 ▪︎ AMD RYZEN 9950X OC 5.5 GHz▪︎ ASUS ROG ASTRAL RTX 5090 OC ▪︎ 32GB 6600 Crucial Ballistix ▪︎ Windows 11 Pro (25H2) ▪︎ 4x Samsung 990 Pro 2TB NVME SSD (OS Drive et MSFS) ▪︎ Corsair RMX 1000W 80 plus Gold PSU ▪︎ LIAN-LI ODYSSEY X black case
September 1, 20205 yr Also, regarding VRAM, keep in mind that DirectStorage is coming which will reduce a lot of asset overhead. Microsoft are claiming an effective (up to) 2.5x improvement in I/O throughput and memory usage. Bernard

September 1, 20205 yr 3090 for the VRAM. 10GB for lower models will be too tight for P3Dv5. Zicheng Cai
