Attention I’ve heard that some users have reported that the app consume a lot and quickly deplete your phone battery.

It probably does, just plug it in would be my advice.....

How to halve your battery life.
People don’t know it, but it’s a huge mistake.

I can make many mistakes in life, plugging my phone in for a few hours at a time whilst I’m flying fake airplanes isn’t one of them!

I look silly enough in front of my rig as it is!

Apologies for the misquoted quote LOL I know it was not GAZZ3 who initially said this.

Getting back to that statement though, seriously, all you need is to follow my example and I have a crisp white shirt with 15 gold Captain stripes on either side and I always wear a cap with enough gold braid to seriously deprive Fort Knox of a sizeable annual income LOL You cannot avoid looking great with that gear. and I am handsome, but modest into the bargain.  Nobody, but NOBODY outranks me in my domain LOL

I have worked out that I have seen this before and just did not connect it to what I had seen.  Very sadly, I do not have an Android or Iphone (Windows10 Nokia phone for me) It does however look seriously good and I wish you very well with its development.

Important to note that I’m not the original developer of this app. I don’t know him personally but I’m merely sharing his app on this forum since I know many of you folks love TrackIR.

I shall convey your thanks to him haha.

Works like a charm, gonna do some more tweaking with the settings, but for now I’ve ditched my trackIR for this. It feels much better now my headphones are not being tethered to my PC anymore. Only slight hiccup was that at first I couldn’t get a signal, and it appeared that my firewall was blocking the port. Defining  an exception for the UDP port in my firewall settings solved this. Thanks for a great little app!

Probably should have put this is a $10 paid app in title no?

SAR Pilot. Flight Sim'ing since the beginning.

Thank you very much for the 'Heads Up' on this app!

Well I must say, after shelling out £10 on the app store I'm over the moon with how easy this is.  I've never used head tracking before but often considered it.  One of my previous posts said having clips stuck to my headset/hat put me off.  I must say its a totally different experience being able to peer over the cockpit dash and around the corner particularly on approach and coming in to land.  Also doing circuits is now so much easier!  Highly recommended.....

But the op suggested app, what is the best way to position the iphone.  I do not have a iphone stand; I have to some how keep it erect so that it can see my face; but it can not be on the center of the monitor - bit on the side - will this app still work effectively?

Edited by Skywolf

@Skywolf Will work - even on the side.

In the settings you can put in an offset to the different axes too.

Best regards Detlef

Only thing I think is better with track IR is being able to pause quickly if you need to but I will check this out looks great

@Skywolf To be correct - in the App for your mobile (Smoothtrack / for Android in my case) you can not adjust. But you can adjust in the Opentrack-App on the PC.

Sorry for the confusion.

Best regards Detlef

Checking in here on this..  This works BEAUTIFULLY.

I installed it on my Pixel 4 XL and plopped it right between my keyboard, and yoke on a wireless charging stand.. It's the perfect distance for head tracking, it's not in the way, and I never have to worry about battery drain...  Best $10 I ever spent..
