September 24, 20205 yr I had been around flight sims for a few years now and noticed that every new release brings in a few opinions that make the new release at that specific moment down to a point of “trash release “ some act like they worked for a developer that in the past released the holy grail of sims. look Im ok when sometimes we can agree to disagree on certain things but to make the effort to want everyone to agree with you that we all have to dislike and start new negative threads in every forum there is or chime in and inject firing replys on a nice positive vibe thread is in opinion a bit crazy . Please understand that since I like many of us being following the process/progress of FS2020 like many others and was surprised that a release was announced way earlier and for that Alone I expected Exactly what we got . Look , One thing is to sick the right outlet and report issues so that the right people can see and take notes . But what i see some people doing demanding that ms/asobo stop what they are doing and come listen to my little issue Thats the end of the world or hell will break loose is again a little crazy to me . . So please help me understand why so much hate ???? Image removed as image is no longer available.
September 24, 20205 yr Please tell me why the hate isn't warranted. This isn't something specific to MSFS, every new game that has a bad release (most of them these days) receives the same criticism. I'm more interested at the excuses and mental gymnastics people on this board are doing to justify the $120 price tag. It reminds me of the Apple word not allowed who refuse to acknowledge any faults with that brand.
September 24, 20205 yr Some of it I think is fear of the new and unknown and the different. 11 years ago MS wiped their hands of the franchise with a simulator that was poorly optimized for the future and was far from perfect. Meanwhile time marched on. FSX was added upon to the point the engine would break frequently (There is a reason there is a CTD dedicated forum). There was X-Plane but it didn't have the add-ons at the time FSX had but that slowly improved as more people went there. Meanwhile P3D happened and developers used to making things for FSX was able to port over to that easily which made it make sense for the dedicated remaining community. Some people came to MSFS with 10 years of P3D add-ons and things tweaked to the way they want it and figured it oughta just be that more or less. Additionally there was legitimate big issues on release the inability to install the game would leave me freaking salty as well if I dropped $60-$120 on a game and it wouldn't even go past the installer. Then there is the legitimate bugs which can be frustrating and if it prevents you from playing the sim like you want then yeah it feels like you wasted your money. If I bought a race sim for like the porsche and the porsche was not able to work because of a bug...yeah so that's why there is a lot of bug posts and what not and they want it fixed because they legit want to enjoy it and be the next sim for them. Then you have the people who are the old guard. People who invested heavily into P3D and don't want it to go the way of the dodo. Those people I think see it as a threat and want it to fail. And historically in FS there is precedent for that. We used to get a new sim like every 2 years and there was always a group of users who would go "FSXXXX does everything I need it to I am not going to the new one its performance stinks." but the developers would go and old support would usually dry up. Given the circumstances of P3D that is very likely to happen there likely will not be at least customer growth there; whereas in MSFS all these new customers and existing customers want add-ons and people will by the updates and upgrades etc. There is probably also some X-Plane 11 users who feel that way who have enjoyed the growing add-on market for X-Plane 11 as a result of MS leaving and fear that if this takes off things may go quiet on that front but I think they tend to be a lot more dedicated to their platform and the X-Plane Developers tend to be just X-Plane developers. (I do enjoy X-Plane so I am a bit biased) That is my take on things anyways.

September 24, 20205 yr It's because lots of people are a bunch of entitled cry babies who think their first world problems are of earth-shattering significance. I'm sure if these people thought about it for a second, it would occur to them that the reason there are people out there who are not kicking off and effing and jeffing, is not because they are happy to take something lying down and not ever complain at all about it, it's just that they understand the following concept: Patience is not the ability to wait, it is the ability to keep a good attitude whilst you are waiting. September 24, 20205 yr Yes, many reasons and opinions why threads of FS2020 negative criticism are spread over the internet. Flight has been introduced to thousands of people (for the very first time) worldwide in a very short period of time as a result of this release and this is great for aviation. Whether you like it or not, the new technology incorporated is clearly the way of the future. No one will dispute there are issues to be resolved, but hey this is Version 1.0. Improvements to aircraft, the SDK, etc. will all come in time. To pay $60 for unparalleled scenery of the entire planet right out of the box is incredible! The crazy thing about this is, if you are unhappy with the sim, don’t run the sim platform and move on. And I think part of the negativity revolves around people who are just not happy campers in life and feel the need to vent or complain. These people need to focus on the positive aspects of technology moving forward, Latest video at The Flight Level Flight Over Frozen Lake Erie - Between Ice and Clouds - Ultimate Solitude - The Perfect Memory
September 24, 20205 yr No hate here but just a little frustration with some things. I will say this is the first version of FS since probably the Commodore 64 days that I have actually been able to run the graphics settings at or near max from day 1! Now if I could just keep my MFD in my 172 from shutting down.
September 24, 20205 yr Starting threads like this just incites many opinions. I wouldn’t call any of it hate. I see so many heaping praise on a new game that was very similar to all the hyping people were doing before the game released. I think just posting gobs of praise on what is yet very unfinished from what was promised is part of the problem. People are boasting all will be well give it time etc. I’m still playing the game but quite reserved about much improving. I will be quite happy when it works as advertised.
September 24, 20205 yr Chock's interpretation is good. Basically people are unable to decipher their feelings for many reasons. Unfortunately the word hate is thrown around loosely these days and can lead to all kinds of problems in political discussions about race and even flight sim forums. Terms like pull the trigger and the like are also bandied about without discretion so from my standpoint we are losing the ability to communicate effectively because we are using power words and phrases promulgated in the media etcetera. Hey it's not my fault the people don't read the classics anymore. The Troll-O-Meter is running on this one. September 24, 20205 yr It's no hate at all. After such a long wait and such a misleading showcase people are very frustrated after they payed the money to see such a buggy, unoptimized software. Aircraft flight characteristics are so off, a patch that broke so many items etc. I really don't understand what is so shocking for you about this MSFS2020 when there are so may valid complains about it. Are all these people so wrong? I don't think so. I think that you actually can't agree to disagree or accept that some people had enough from these developers to put out software full of bugs and on top of that to expect to be paid for such a poor job. 747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.

Detest the "hate" label. Detest how when some see some disagreement they immediately pull out the derogatory labels. Lots of build up of expectations. Some met. Agreed. Others disappointing. Seems general aviation flying into general aviation airports is most affected. Sadly at this time that is how I fly this hobby. Would a moderator please lock down this topic?
