What do people think can we expect tonight? (8th Oct)

Featured Replies

I know we can expect an 'update' tonight, which I understand to mean a communication with the usual community pictures etc., but should we expect a little patch / hotfix / update for the sim?

There are version dependent updates waiting in the marketplace (waiting for version 1.9.4), but that might not mean a lot.

I hope MS/Asobo surprise us tonight with a little something.

Just setting the VFR map right, and and reverting the Anti-aliasing would be enough for me until the big November update.

Even just a little update to correct a few issues would win back confidence with quite a few people I think, as it shows they are listening and responding promptly.

If it does come down the pipe tonight - and I'm not totally sure it will - I think we can expect better things than we have had.

A bit of a Rally To The Charge in terms of fixing stuff and an overall good patch.

10 to 1 an update for press key to start..  20 to 1 an acknowledgement of issues they are working on for the next update in 2 weeks :)

in case you can't tell..  humour people humour :)

System specs...   CPU AMD5950,  GPU AMD6900XT,  ROG crosshair VIII Hero motherboard, Corsair 64 gig LPX 3600 mem, Air cooling on GPU,   Kraken x pump cooling on CPU.  Samsung G7 curved 27" monitor at 2k resolution ULTRA default settings.

One thing they mentioned in the Q&A was not rushing the patches and making sure they were tested thoroughly, with that an not expecting too much apart from an update on how the next patch is developing.

Today we are supposed to get a new Around the World trailer, a new Partnership Series release, as well as an SDK and third-party update.

The next simulator update is scheduled for 15 October, and while a patch for some of the pressing issues is sorely needed, unfortunately I haven't seen any sort of hint in the official forums or the social channels for this week. I'm also hoping they'll surprise us tonight.

What's the issue with the anti-aliasing?

Unfortunately it seems unlikely that we're getting a patch tonight. Someone on the forums received a response from support a few hours ago, and apparently the CTD issues are still under investigation and were placed in the Known Issues list yesterday.

The sharpening filter was boosted and now it makes the aliasing and shimmering a lot more prominent. It also creates halo ringing in a few instances. It can be fixed by turning off the filter from the UserCfg.opt file.

Man....... why did you have to mention a patch/update for tonight?

Now my 'refresh' finger is going into red alert mode  😁 😁

How do you turn off the filter in the UseCfg.opt file? I found the setting Sharpen 1 under PostProcess and set it to 0, but the sim changed it back to 1.

Thx,

Al

If you set it to "read only", the sim won't change it back anymore.

Set the whole UseCfg.opt file to "read only"?  And how do you do that?

Al

Right-Click on the file and set the read-only property there.

Yes, just figured it out. I have to wonder what unintentional effects setting the file to read-only will have?

Thx,

Al

Any code updating the file (probably from a config menu) will not work.
