Bonanza Turbo V2 RELEASED

Thanks so much for V2! Still loving it. One issue though is not being able to start using Spadnext and the Saitek switch panel starter. The starter times out on the panel before the engine starts on the mod. Can the timing be reduced as previously it worked with V1? Failing that, anyone know a workaround?

I also have this problem and I am not using SPAD I am using the honey comb yoke. I can only start by using the mouse.

Ditto, same problem here with the Honeycomb.

Fantastic work!  Bravo!!

On my Saitek switch, with aircraft where the starter times out (the 152 for example) I just repeatedly flick the magneto to start and back to both rapidly enough for the next start pulse to pickup where the last left off.  Generally takes 3 or 4 flicks to get it to catch.

Probably not great for the switch mechanism but it gets the plane started.

Should have mentioned it does start if I use the mouse.

If you open the engines.cfg (make a backuo before saving) in the mod's simobjects folder, a little way down the PISTON ENGINE params you'll see an entry named "Normalised_Starter_Torque" and below that "starter_time".  If you increase the starter time from 1.8 to, say 2.5 that should give your button more time to kick the starter. If that still doesn't work, raise the Normalised_Starter_Torque value to up to double the current entry. If you are in developer mode you can do all this without quitting the sim, press escape and pause the sim, open the engine.cfg file and edit then save it. Back in the sim, resume and: open a new project, while flying, then "Aircraft editor" then resync which reloads the Bonanza rather than having to restart the sim. (Wait for the whole aircraft to reload before closing the aircraft editor window) I can't guarantee this will work for you but it might fix it.

If you use "resync" to reload the first thing to do before touching anything is to fully roll to the left and right, otherwise the resync bug will link the trim to elevator and you'll fly all over the place (this is a bug which affects all aircraft in FS2020.

Or you can edit the engines.cfg before you start the sim, which is less complicated.

Thank you very much Robert. I downloaded and took it for a spin yesterday, and had a lovely flight starting at Orbx rendition of Darrington Muni.

Your work is much appreciated.

Thanks for your kind comment. Glad you like it.

Did you crack the throttle more open a bit when starting? And if you were at even a modest altitude, pull back the mixture a little as it is set by default to rich.

Should have mentioned it does start if I use the mouse.

Thanks! Changing the starter time as suggested did the trick. 😀

Hi Glenn, maybe I can help you fix the XPForce issue. You are welcome to PM me.

I have not had time to fiddle with this but I am starting to think it may have been more related to the XPForce Alt-trim mode (that moves the Yoke with trim) kicking in, and I have issues with alt trim mode in quite a few planes,  including running out of elevator deflection and sometimes even inverting trim direction .

Possibly it was On even when the settings said "Off"  because I saved a profile with it "On" under the default bonanza ? Not sure how that works.

Either way, If i get a chance I will experiment a bit more and if I can get some useful data on exactly what is going on I will PM you for help.

Regardless it is not a big issue and the bonanza has gone from "never used" to becoming my go-to aircraft when I am not wanting to fly at snail speed in a 152.

I must say the things are a PITA to land though 😄

I spent the morning recreating some of my typical flights from decades ago. Leaving Vandenburg (now Tampa Exec.) I hopped over to the new Plant City, then skipped to Lakeland, over the stacks and then back to X16. All the while, instead of a Champ, Archer or 182, I was in @robert young ‘s Turbo Normalized G36 and boy things happened so much quicker than I remembered. What was brilliant was to pop up, and then just start pulling power... it was only a flash to 1500’ and power was still coming back.... and kept coming back. Thinking of proper thermodynamics, I pulled only 2” per minute, so it was up and down. I’d have gone further but I’m absolutely in love with the transmitted flight feel of this aeroplane.

Have you noted how twitchy the default aircraft are with anything more than a very lazy crosswind? Not this one.

Have you noticed how the defaults grab NWS inputs and pick up a wing (sometimes even the wrong downwind one)? Not this one.

Have you noticed how easy it is to over control the rudder, especially as authority decays with speed? Not this one.

Flying final with a 20 degree crab, translating into a forward slip with wing down into the wind, to a flare just above the asphalt to that delightful interaction of crossed controls, thrust residuals, speed decay, final flare, ground effect and tire scrub.. is all goosebump inducing.

I promise to venture further afield, but for now, up and down scratches my itch nicely!

Ta Rob!
