Any GA owner will be very familiar with the time stamp of these first photos.

Who hasn't woken up early, called 1800WXBRIEF (does one even have to anymore?), made up a Thermos while getting the Wx, and then carefully, so as to not wake the rest of the family, eased the truck out of the driveway and driven to the airport in the still morning air, while the excitement builds..... Who hasn't punched in the gate code, and driven past the dew covered tied down aircraft, making their way carefully through the hangar rows, until arriving at THE ONE!

WwEnU6B.jpg

I had scribbled our FP on a notepad kept by the phone for just this purpose, and it was a very simple VFR- DCT SHEEK DCT RSW DCT FLL, and if Miami Center was in good humor this morning, flight following might scrub off a good many miles with a shortcut or two... just needed to make sure Avon Park wasn't hot.

VerticalSimulations had just updated their KPCM and I couldn't wait to find out what they had done... in the first seconds I knew they had worked on optimization, everything was butter in the sim- lovely.

Using our IN SIM flashlight we began the prep... a quick untie and walk around... the main one would come after we got gas...

eIXI869.jpg

Then it was time to crank that beautiful 6... and work our way to the pumps.  In the glow of the beacon, and the moonlight, I could have been the only one awake (other than Herman in the FBO, but then again, he's been known to carefully inspect the inside of his eyelids in the early morning...)

ZkL00qQ.jpg

Ah well... he was awake by the time we pulled up in front.

After Herman's mutterings about people who didn't have the sense to stay in bed at Godforsaken hours of the morning... he pumped 16 Gals of 100LL into the wings, giving us a total of 34 Gallons on board.  We had calculated the trip would burn just under 23 Gallons, so that would be plenty.  Gosh.. it's more expensive than I remember (one of the advantages of being a Line Boy in my teens was that my motorcycle burned nothing but Blue Gas).  Then with a cup of coffee in hand, and a fuel glass tucked into my jeans, it was time for the full walkaround.

VerticalSimulations has done a bang up job of modeling the airport, and once or twice I could hear those Adirondack Chairs calling... but we had to go!

zdAtLGh.jpg

So enough faffing around, here we are, ticking over.. only one WP in the G1000 (Ta WorkingTitle) and getting ready to leave this bit of sim heaven behind and head into the footless halls of air.... wanna follow along...?  BTW, RUN, don't walk to https://verticalsims.com/shop/mfs/kpcmhd/ and get this gem for $5... fantastic!

8PdxvWN.jpg

On the way to 10 we had to take a look... this sim is indeed BEAUTIFUL.. the trees... meh... but maybe that sort of thing will get sorted in time...

@robert young has done such a splendid job with the G36 Mod, and VirtualSimulations modeled the taxiway with it's rise and run so well, that I could feel the G36 accelerate away from me on the second half of the taxi to 10... the momentum was apparent... lovely!

We did our run up, checking the mags for drop and cycling the prop a few times to get the hub filled with warm oil... purposely the Cowl was just cracked to let the Continental warm up... and now with it cracked a bit further, a look over the panel, temps nicely off the pegs and in the green... it was time to FLY!

Take a look at this while the back seats at the concert complain... When's the last time you actually had to SQUINT in the sim?  When's the last time you saw undulating runway... in my mind... the uphill and downhill meet exactly at the right point... speed will be building, and this superbly modeled G36 Turbonormalized modification will fly as the ground begins to drop away underneath her... if everything goes as planned we will be SMILING...

Do you really need the Post Office when you can HAUL MAIL like this???

I just wish that there was an easy way to add some repaints to the mod.

There are some new liveries about to be released to the community that surely look nice:

They used to whip up a darn fine breakfast (Tony's Airport Cafe) there.. but today it was the peanut butter crackers and some more Coffee.  Strangely, with Coffee and Hot Sauce.. the cheaper the better.. it's Cafe Bustello and Crystal for me... whilst the rest of the family sips some ghastly Mocachinno Frappachino amalgamated crapola...  anyhooooooo here we are sat very nicely at 9000, still with WOT (Avgas ain't so bad in the sim) and 2500, burning around 14.5GPH and making a TAS of 188KTS... all in TURBONORMALIZED BONANZA STYLE....

7GVEYXd.jpg

Hey... here's one for the Millennials... I'm navigating to a VOR... holy cow Batman... it STILL WORKS and gives you a DME... so you "know where you are in your head"... hmmmm not possible!

eZDpS7j.jpg

...but just to make SURE I know where I am... the fantastic WorkingTitle G1000 is making sure my brains aren't more addled than usual....

KMIA is reporting fine... KMIA 181053Z 08008KT 10SM SCT023 BKN090 BKN250 27/23 A2998 RMK AO2 SLP152 T02670228

With any luck we will be given 8L for the short taxi to Signature... fingers x'ed!  We weren't lucky in getting a shortcut across Avon Park, as the USAF was keeping it tied up this morning... so it's the long way there for us... but can I really complain...?

Hey... here's Okeechobee.... I remember the first time I was truly on instruments was on my long cross country, where directly in the middle of the lake I lost the horizon and concentrated furiously on the AH in the Traumahawk (N2383D I think it was)... until I picked up the shoreline again... memories...

Ji7ULGE.jpg

...and there's the timer... time to switch tanks...

My only regret is I’m about to go away for a weeks holiday with the family and kids so no sim time for me 😀

After 50 years as a Bustelo lover, I found a better brand of coffee.

MSFS

Flight Following is going nicely... here we are just over SW Florida Regional... out the window and on our SYNTHETIC VISION... not bad for GA... to leave the USAF with plenty of airspace to do their thing.. we headed down towards Naples for a straight shot in... there was a day in a certain AeroCommander that I almost had to clean out my shorts hauling checks to Naples (do they even do that anymore- NOT)... but that's for another day...

KeTkBa9.jpg

After Naples we will be SOLID IFR... we're going to follow US 41 all the way to Miama....the air is smooth enough to get into the yellow band, so while trying not to shock cool the engine, we will be doing our very best to imitate a Baron on the way down....

BwCjJGQ.jpg

After the turn we'll pretend we're turning 2...

hpELRcL.jpg

Now THAT's IFR... hey... what's an FMC/CDU/EICAS/MCP/PERF INIT/L/VNAV... hmm... can't remember just now.... 😉

We're tightly cowled and well into the yellow... who says 201 is only for Mooneys...

Hv8S1JC.jpg

.. and here's Dade-Collier.. the last checkpoint before vectors to a visual for 8L... Miama is playing ball... unusual for Miami (ducking 😉 ) Anyone tell you FLORDIA IS FLAT?

Q6sbEyB.jpg

We're keeping her tightly cowled... and pulling power slowly.. 2" every few minutes.. 24 miles out and the RABBITS ARE IN VIEW- Asobo please fix this!  Speed is coming back, we're at 3000 and Signature is expecting us, even have a shuttle waiting for the transfer to the big bird... maybe I'll be able to grab some Caffe con Leche and Pan Cubano at the terminal... and heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs the best part... the beautiful transformation from flying machine to earthbound mortal a la Robert Young...

AscUVAx.jpg

We tuned the localizer just to make sure we were not going to have a long an painful flight path incursion debrief with the local FDSO.. what with parallel runways and all... but this is my favorite bit... the flight was managed properly, everything is in the green and happy, the runway is just ahead, and I GET TO EXPERIENCE RY BONANZA BLISS... not a bad way to wake up in the morning... we'll just follow that little culvert in to the TDZ (oh I forgot... the piano keys..)

One notch of flap, 99KIAS and things are looking good... except for those silly polygons in the distance... @Asobo are you reading this??  @AVSIM Admin- why isn't @Asobo active for a ping yet?

qcDaSCF.jpg

... and here's the fence- full flap and as you (and the FDSO) can clearly see I'm staying LEFT of centerline... backed up by the LOC... no chatty sessions with the boys from Washington today!

FEZBBSm.jpg

We vacated promptly on Zulu, Signature was just ahead... we taxied straight to the front... they would tow my girl away and pull in that Lear or maybe a GV... but for the moment we were celebrating my BONANZA!  Ta Robert- you've done her PROUD!

Hi Rob,

Hope you're well. Thanks for this masterpiece, it is an absolute delight to fly this bird. The only problem I have is, there's no other plane for me at the moment... well, I'll get over it. Make sure you get well soon, take care
