Thanks Bijan, this is the kind of reply I'm looking for. Appreciate it.

When I saw your thread, I was all set to recommend flying in the vicinity of South Caicos island (MBSC). I flew there a couple of weeks ago and it was very nice. I decided I better go check before I posted and all the coral is gone. Just milky-blue water. What a letdown.

Today's update removed the water masking from Governer's Harbour which was there yesterday.  Now it's all gone. I see the file WaterBlurMasks.cgl updated today with the new small update. I wonder why microsoft is placing a huge blur over tropical waters.

I do have an older file WaterBlurMasks.cgl which I will try to see if I can bring back the coral.

Please let us know. I'm curious. I'm also confused as to why they're doing this? Seems like they're backpedaling on the whole feature and want go eradicate all evidence. Lol

Yeah, looks like they are removing them everywhere. I wonder if they saw your screenshot yesterday and thought "oh my, we forgot to remove that one, let's do it", lol.

Let us know if that old file brings the beauty back.

LOL, I honestly believe this is the case. They are watching us.  All the corals on the world is there. They just placed a huge blue on top of all them. It's extremely easy fix to remove the blur from the file WaterBlurMasks.cgl but it's not editable.

I was able to bring back the coral back with older file I have.

Please microsoft, do not hack my system to remove the file.

Now I wish there was an option to block updates.

What if we remove the WaterBlurMasks.cgl completely, wouldn't that bring the corals back? Or would it be updated again when we open the sim?

I tried that but I don't think it worked. You can try to see. Maybe you have different result.

I am already expecting a popup in the game saying we are taking away your privilege to fly unless you delete your file.

This gets more and more embarrassing for MS/Asobo, not only they do false advertisments, they now reduce visual quality with each update? Ridiculous...

Bijan,

Does the old file "WaterBlurMasks.cgl" bring back the water masks everywhere?

If they are reading our threads, expect that they will change the file name just to ruin our day. LOL

MSFS

So I guess that means the water masks depend on that file which means they cannot be updated via the streaming scenery data, a simulator update is needed. This is the second mistaken statement that Asobo made in the latest Q&A.

They need to clarify what the heck is going on really fast. They said they would be enabling water masks within a few days, not remove them.

Not exactly. It only means that file is responsible for blurring it, or some of it.

Water masks comes via streaming just like orthos. Once they are upgraded on the delivery servers, users will see them in game as well. They simply aren't ready. Also this is not just about Caribbean seas. Most seas have beautiful waters to show. I shoudn't have to mention the mediterranean countries but i kind of have to, too many people thinking those water masking are relevant only in atolls..
