@BijanStudio my screenshot and video at MYNN are with the defaut simulator, I did not replace any file. Everything disabled in the community folder too.

By the way, nice video, how do you move around so quickly? I'm a total noob when it comes to playing with external cameras

That's strange. I wonder why some don't see it.

I used slew mode. Just press Y and the arrows to move around. Shortcuts to move up and down are in sim help. F1 and F4

Or use the developer camera 😄

Customer: What happened to all the tropical water masks?

Asobo: Very confusing as we are not seeing this? But, have you seen what Aerosoft have done with the CRJ? It's going to be great, really very great! We are so happy with what they've done, really good stuff.

Customer: huh?

For clarity, on 1.11.7.0 here

Guys, some masks just show with the default waterblurmasks file and others just show with the old file. I was using the default file on my MYNN and MYBC screenshots. I think @odourboy was using the old file and that is why he wasn't seeing the masks at MYNN.

Yes, I'm referring to the 685KB update from the installation manager (not the 1.11.7.0 hotfix from the Microsoft Store). WaterBlurMasks.cgl was one of the modified files.

This situation would be so much more clear if they would just be transparent about what they are doing with the water masks, and what those patches do. I don't know why they are continuing with those stealth changes. It would save us so much frustration and it would save Asobo so many complaints.

Maybe they'll explain it in today's development update, but with the last few ones being thin on content I'm not feeling so hopeful.

That's weird, I checked MYNN after seeing the message from Alvega earlier today. Do you have BING data set to on?

Mystery solved! My BING data was on but I'd been messing with the waterblurmasks.cgl file and hadn't restored it to yesterday's version. I'm good now!!! Sorry, user error!

Holy cow... this is impressive!Flight-Simulator-2020-12-10-13-19-34-75.

Thanks for the clarification. Now we know three things for sure:

  1. They're working on the water masks as we speak.
  2. They are removing some water masks in the process.
  3. Water mask updates cannot be delivered via streaming.

So confusing. None of this makes sense.

That does look nice but I hate to say but I think Asobo are rapidly getting out of their depth with this sim, playing catchup here, deny there, hotfix this, take away that, talk a lot, do the opposite, etc.

This sim is in real danger of being looked back on in eighteen months as the greatest flight sim that was too good to make it on the ground and got cancelled by MS and/ or morphed in to something else - like Virtual World Tourist.

You're overreacting. This is normal for Games/sims these days.

That is kind of where I'm at and why I have been so vocal about opening the kimono for trusted 3PD's. They have taken on a massive task by trying to create an all-in-one sim, and I don't think they are going to be able to make everything work in a reasonable time period. I think AS/MS are technically capable of making everything happen, but I don't think they can do it in a short enough timeline to make the sim the success we all hope it will be. If they farmed out some of the more vexing tasks and focused on what they do best, they could get things done faster. While bringing on subs may not be realistic for all of the remaining issues, there are certainly developers (freeware and payware) out there who will pick up the slack if MS/AS makes it clear that they are no longer developing that specific element. For example, if they said they were done with the aircraft, the freeware community will get them to a point where most people are satisfied with them. They have to do is communicate with those teams so they know how things work, and allow people access to the entire sim including the premium deluxe content. This would allow them to reorganize their team and get people focused on the really important issues that can't be solved my the community. Worldwide tropical water masks is an example of the type of thing that probably have to remain in-house.

but the fact that you can basically control everything of the plane is. In MSFS, you simply auto complete the checklists and your plane is up and running, this is a typical arcade mode behaviour.

All of that is optional though, you're not forced to use it. You can even turn off auto complete in the options menu.

At last we have a clarification. Jayne posted this regarding yesterday's update.

Not much to update here - but the small patch was for some additional water masks.

Eventually, our goal is to have a list or map of all the areas that have water mask updates.

Still doesn't solve the mystery of existing water masks being removed though. Hopefully it's not a bug that they are overlooking. Those of you with screenshots of the areas that went missing, please report them to Zendesk.
