December 9, 20205 yr It pains me to do this but I’ve already told 2 friends to NOT buy MSFS and stay with P3D. Microsoft already have my money but I’ll do what I can to influence others to not be taken in by pretty marketing pictures. Between this and the months of broken aircraft elements (backwards ITT, non-working ATC and AP), I cant give it a passing grade as a simulator. It’s an arcade game at best.

Carbon Savage Cubs, 18 landings... smooth all the way.. Some arcade game 🙂 Edited December 10, 20205 yr by Bert Pieke Bert
December 10, 20205 yr I'll play devils advocate and I will say that I have no idea what's going on. BUT, I find it really hard to believe that they would come on the Q&A and say that they would be pushing a bunch of watermasks with an update soon and then not do that and make them all go away instead. That just doesn't make sense. What would make sense is that possibly they decided to change something either in the way these masks are delivered, stored, or created or all of the above. And maybe this file has been getting rid of the old method that they were using (like an exclusion) in preparation for a major water mask update to come out soon just like they said in the Q&A. The comments though about them not communicating about it and explaining why they're going away instead of being added is spot on. It seems deceptive if you don't offer an explanation and people are going to take it to be a conspiracy or an outright lie because they have nothing else to go on. My hope is that this is just a change that will be fixed soon because there is no way they could get away with lying about this...

How hard have you tried to learn the instrumentation in MSFS? 3) MSFS an arcade game? Show me one that offers real-life satellite-based scenery of the entire world. 4) The "pretty marketing pictures" (I assume you mean videos) come pretty close to what I see in flying MSFS. 3 hours ago, Danno said:

I've completely stopped using the simulator, and I'll probably stop filing bug reports and trying to bring attention to major issues like this one. It feels like a lost cause at this point... To me it feels like they actively make things we bring up worse, so it's better to bring up nothing at all and just accept whatever the state of things is. Night lighting, water masks, autopilot, all brought up with a lot of votes and all get worse. Edit: Also in the Dev Q&A they said the water masks are server side and can be updated on the fly, but that's clearly false if there is a sim-install-side file that controls them. December 10, 20205 yr Wow..:-) 😐 😮 😡 🥺 🤩 Range of emotions. Faro Portugal is back, I suppose, as of this update today..!?! https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/caribbean-water-mask-missing-non-existant/314779/18 Haven't checked the other places shown there, but for sure, 12/08/2020 whenever the bigger update happened, I checked on Faro....plain, blue water. Just cruising by and found this article. Flew already today after today's update(holding my breath)...But just checked on Faro, 12/09/2020 23:00 CST USA. The underwater features are showing(just as they show on Bing) again??!! I am ecstatic it's back, but puzzled....gonna keep flyin and not think to much of it...😡🤬😁😁. Cheers, RB
December 10, 20205 yr Now they are closing threads about this calling it "answered" on the Official MSFS forums: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/no-coral-reefs-and-wrong-tropical-water-colors-again/317341/82 Working on screenshots of all of the 11 areas from the August 18th, 2020 Oceania video. I'm also saving the .FLT files so I can revisit the areas quickly in the future. If MS is going to call this "answered", maybe I'll have to "answer" it with a Youtube video showing exactly what the current state of all these areas is. Here's a hint: it ain't pretty, folks. December 10, 20205 yr Author Don't understand why but they removed some places and added others that we didn't have before. Now we have Nassau Chub Cay Near Andros Town At least we have something now. Checked Tahiti and French Polynesia but nothing there yet. Most stuff is refundable, does it prevent you from asking for a product that works as advertised? Non-reason here... 2) I agree, they are not broken, they are simply like many other things included but poorly done. Just had it again, flying at 12'000 feet and being redirected from departure to center about 20 times in a row until I got the clearance to climb further. This was state of the art back in 2006 when FSX was released, but just plain embarassing for a MSFS released in 2020... 3) Of course it is an arcade game in its current state. There are some simulation aspects in, but again, several things are done poorly... And sorry to say, but could you graphics guys please ONCE give an argument PRO MSFS, that is not entirely related to the visual appearance of the sim, which is without doubt phenomenal? Furthermore, I do not sse how "real-life satellite-based scenery of the entire world" has ANY, ANY relevance on the fact that MSFS is an arcade game... 4) They do, but close is not spot on. For any other game, devs would be hanged for continously showing product trailers without a disclaimer that the content is not representative of the final product. Now read the explanation over at the official forums, just plain ridiculous: "Trailers are showing the latest updates to the world that are released in one of the next upcoming big update." In "one of the next upcoming big update"? Seriously, besides this still leaves trailers without proper disclaimer basically as false advertisment, they are obviously not even capable of telling us in WHICH coming update? Means, they have no idea. And they obviously want to leave a back door open to tell us: we never said it will be in the update of xx-xx-2020/2021. While I really appreciate their open communication on most of the topics, I wonder why they fail that hard if it is related to water masks. Strange... December 10, 20205 yr Like the developers promised, some watermask are being redone and realistic water colors are showing through again. Thank you! Let's hope this path continues Edited December 10, 20205 yr by peroni

Arcade means: the flight model is so simple and easy that a player can fly around and capable of more complex maneuvers like flying below bridges without actually knowing anything about flying a plane. Basically the flying in the 3rd person view is totally arcade, try landing a plane in 3rd person view in DCS for example. Or even fire up the plane in 3rd person view... Maybe not for big birds but at least for the C152 and C172 the handling in MSFS is just as good as X-Plane which is regarded as the most accurate in terms of flight model /offtopic Edited December 10, 20205 yr by peroni
