December 23, 20205 yr On my Odyssey+ (which admittedly I just got last night) and 5700XT it seems like I can choose between readable glass cockpit displays at 100% render scaling and <30 fps. and a 30-40 fps framerate at 80% render scaling but the the glass cockpits are basically unreadable. This is with thw default VR graphics options. Setting all options to 'low' didn't really seem to change performance all that much.... There may be better settings, I am still playing around. Also I'm sure an upgrade to a 6800XT or 3080 would help. Steam gauge Savage Cub and C172 in Papa New Guinea were a lot of fun. Did my first ever multiplayer flight with a co-worker who was trying it out with his Quest. So I would lean toward steam gauge aircraft for now. Actually feeling like I was sitting in the Cub was a real treat. Edited December 23, 20205 yr by marsman2020 AMD 3950X | 64GB RAM | AMD 5700XT | CH Fighterstick / Pro Throttle / Pro Pedals
December 23, 20205 yr Using an Index here through SteamVR, on a 3090, 8700k (4.9Ghz) and 32gb. My impression is that something isn't right. Head movement is incredibly juddery, on the lowest settings, reminding me of old-school rubber banding, although the frame rate itself feels okay. If I up all graphics settings to the max, it feels like there's no different to the frame rate at all. It's perplexing, frankly. And befuddling 😁

Well no more i say! I've just had the most fluid and immersive flying I've ever experienced in a sim, I am in awe. It pains me to see so many not being able to experience it well, I dont have a grea card gtx1080, and 3700x 32gb ram, and I can get it smooth. It was a stuttering mess to start with but used the ASW 45fps forced in the oculus tool kit, and that helped a lot, turned off supersampling, and all the shadows and ambient oclusion. Which Oculus do you use?

The world perspective / geometry is warping as I turn my head which is something I've never had in any other VR game Running the default settings, overall I'm getting good FPS most of the time provided I start the game in pancake, then toggle VR on once about to take off. Regardless of graphic quality settings, it's interrupted by strange flickers and head movement jitters here and there.. As soon as I toggle VR on/off it increases jitters dramatically and I need to restart the game as I can't seem to recover from it. Toggling VR off in game presents a flickery unusable Steam Home page in the headset. I tried doing the oculus troubleshooting .exe and that made things horrendous. The menu at the top that allows you top open certain windows in PC mode isn't there in VR mode. This is pretty frustrating to say the least. The interesting thing is that when in VR mode, when in the world map section, I choose a time, and it doesn't actually change the numbers, so I have no idea what actual time I selected. I rate it a 5/10. Tons of promise but as usual, Microsoft fails to manage the project correctly. I wonder why I am even getting emotional over this. Asobo keeps blowing smoke up our butts while microsoft gives them a gag order. I think (control +Tab) brings up the menu.
