I'm on a I7 6800K OC to 4.5ghz and a 3080. I first tried settings from that one video and then even lowered everything to low ..I'm getting at times terrible fps, but even when its showing 30 fps I get a lot of shudder when i move my head.is the worst part, I'm pretty used to vr but even this makes me feel not great..I have motion smoothing on , I'm in a index..I feel it should still run a little better than this?? Perhaps it has to do with steamvr vs G2 and openxr??

I think you simply are bottlenecked by your CPU...6800k is still a great, but it will definatly bottleneck a 3080...especially in VR I'm afraid.

Time to burry my 1080ti. If only the 3080ti was available yet. The 1080ti with my Index is struggling hard. Its ok to fly a quick round over NY but nothing smooth for serious flying. And that is everything on low or off and scaling at 80%. But despite that its wonderful. Flying over NY was incredible.

So I have to resist not to panic buy a 3090 for 2k and continue waiting patiently for the 3080ti which should be out rumored in Q1 next year.

My first impression is I need a new PC.  I’m running an i7-7700k at 4.8, 32GB DDR4 RAM, and a GTX 1080 (which is minimum spec for VR).  I’m also running an HP Reverb G2.  It was smooth with some jitters but outside the airplane looks like garbage.  Blurry with defaulted settings mostly on low or medium and render scaling set to 80.  I don’t like it.  But that’s probably my hardware more than MSFS I suppose.  I knew I would have to turn down settings but I’m disappointed.  I didn’t think it would be this “low”

I've been using VR in MSFS since the VR beta in October. I'm as blown away now as I was then. The immersion you feel in flight is like nothing I've ever experienced outside of real time in an aircraft. The settings need some tweaking to balance FPS and visual quality, but I have to say that it's hard for me to not put my headset on when flying anymore.

Now, to get a Reverb G2, and one of those elusive next gen graphics cards...

Microsoft Flight Simulator | Ryzen 9 5900X | MSI MEG X570 ACE | 32 GB DDR4 | Geforce RTX 3080 | Samsung Evo 970 M.2 | Dual 1440p screen | Win 10 Pro

Honeycomb Alpha Flight Yoke | Honeycomb Bravo Throttle | Thrust master TPR Rudder Pedals | HP Reverb G2

I also had a lot of stutters when moving my head.  Messed around a bit doing a restart, and started vr from within MSFS instead of from steam vr lobby. Worked a lot better, but not sure if it is reproducable.

Thats what I had ..lucky to have a 3080 now..but it sure is not helping me. Not sure what cpu you have ,but it better be a real good one cause a 3080 is not going to save you unfortunatley

The bizarre thing that I see is that the FPS counter shows a pretty stable 45FPS on my Index, but when I look down toward the ground while taking off I can literally count the frames--chop, chop, chop--and yet, I'm still seeing 45FPS being registered; so I'm not sure I can believe the frame counter.  I know its not 45FPS because that's what I get in X-Plane VR, and in comparison XP is smooth as silk in VR compared to fs2020, which maintains a distinctly low FPS feel out the window.  The subjective feel is as though the cockpit is running at at least 45FPS (very smooth), but the world is somewhere between 10 and 20 FPS.  Given that I'm running a 5Gz i9 and 2080Ti, I wouldn't necessarily think an upgrade is going to help.  I suspect the Index is just not getting any love by this simulator at the moment, so I'll probably be bailing on this until it's ready for prime time.  With that said, I think if I didn't have anything to compare it with and this was my first time in a sim with VR, I would be blown-away by how "immersive" it is; but since its not, I'm not.

Performance is abysmal, and I have somewhat high end hardware. DCS runs smooth on very high settings, as does XP11, but both of those took quite some time to get optimized for VR.

This won’t be any different.

VR was nice the first time around. I'm on an oculus Rift S. The black outlined box was visible at first. I tried doing the oculus troubleshooting .exe and that made things horrendous. The menu at the top that allows you top open certain windows in PC mode isn't there in VR mode. This is pretty frustrating to say the least. The interesting thing is that when in VR mode, when in the world map section, I choose a time, and it doesn't actually change the numbers, so I have no idea what actual time I selected.

I rate it a 5/10.

Tons of promise but as usual, Microsoft fails to manage the project correctly.

I wonder why I am even getting emotional over this. Asobo keeps blowing smoke up our butts while microsoft gives them a gag order.

at the moment, it stinks to high heaven.  Can't see anything.  I get solid orange in my HMD, and nothing on the display. Using a Reverb G2... I'll keep looking.  Not sure what the startup sequence is, but I'll figure it out....

HTC Vive Pro. 5950x & 3090 Strix OC.. Loaded the default VR Preset and yikes...It's not even remotely smooth. Juddering like mad when moving head left to right. Going to tinker around i guess. Not a good first impression

I struggled to go back to flat monitors after using xplane VR solid since its release, as amazing as fs2020 graphics were I still missed the immersion.

Well no more i say! I've just had the most fluid and immersive flying I've ever experienced in a sim, I am in awe. It pains me to see so many not being able to experience it well, I dont have a grea card gtx1080, and 3700x 32gb ram, and I can get it smooth.

It was a stuttering mess to start with but used the ASW 45fps forced in the oculus tool kit, and that helped a lot, turned off supersampling, and all the shadows and ambient oclusion.

You shouldn't have an issue getting the Reverb G2 to work. It was the first to be implemented two months ago in the beta. I see that there are others having issues with non Microsoft Mixed Reality headsets, but the MMR headsets should work by just launching your Mixed Reality Portal. Then MSFS. when a flight is loaded up, CTRL +TAB. Are you trying to use Steam VR?'  Also I read that Microsoft recommended you download the latest MMR Portal, that was also supposed to be released today.
