Just Flight has uploaded a new promotional video and I also got a mail telling me where to find my discount coupon. So I guess the release is getting closer.

In the comments for that video Just Flight replied that there is no icing modeled for it

No icing I'm afraid, the default icing system is pretty useless so haven't wasted any time on it on this I'm afraid. Once it's in a better state we'll take a look.

More corner cutting BS.  Oh well, I won't be buying this then.

Is much as it disappointing one not suppose to fly in known icing conditions in Arrow!

I'm not dropping $45 on something that is missing features the stock aircraft have, no matter what excuses the developer wants to make.  I'll wait for MilViz or A2A and see what they bring to the table.

Wait,..whaaat, no icing modelled on the JF PA? Crikey, even my Carenado WACO has that modelled. I won't be buying the JF version of the PA then. No way, especially for that asking price.

Wait, are you telling me that i can put the airplane into KNOWN icing and nothing at all will happen? No frost, no change in aerodynamics etc? I cant believe that. @JustFlightScott can you say anything about this?

I welcome their decision. The icing model in its current state is pretty bad and has not much to do with real icing. And should Asobo improve the icing model I'm sure that Just Flight will stand by their word and implement it.

Yeah this is a real shame I was really excited about this and likely would have bought both the naturally aspirated and Turbo versions given the large discount for people who bought both.  But I just can't support cutting corners like this in a GA aircraft at this price, especially when other cheaper GA aircraft having icing.

Yes but how many features does it have that other aircraft don't have.  I would rather look at the big picture, especially considering how poorly icing is modeled right now.  But, to each their own I guess.

You can set icing to visual only in the options menu and there is a key binding for 'deice windshield' that works even on aircraft with no icing equipment.  So if people don't want to worry about it, great, they don't have to.

The icing in the sim is overblown right now but avoiding being iced up or dealing with the consequences is also one of the more interesting aspects of flying GA aircraft right now.  I've flown 1/3rd of the way around the world (from Los Angeles up and across Alaska to Japan and down to China) in the Bonanza with Live Weather.  Dealing with icing is one of the things that made it really interesting through the winter.  The flights with perfect weather have been boring.  I'm not going to spend $45 on an aircraft where that isn't an option.

I did the multiplayer cannonball run race across the US non-stop in the SW121 in December and again avoiding weather was one of the things that made it interesting.

Do you know what's worse than the current icing state in the sim? Not having any icing at all.

With the icing as it is right now, i have to avoid entering into icing conditions since if i do the plane will crash. Right now, at night i have to look into weather reports, temperatures, cloud tops etc. From time to time i even use the flashlight to see the wings and make sure there's no ice in them.

This decision from Just Flight means that i can knowingly or unknowingly fly into icing conditions and the plane won't care and i wont even notice.

Bad bad.

Come on now, that's not the point. It's like Orbx giving ulower quality textures than the default. people just aren't putting up with this anymore. My carenado WACO models icing very well and cost far cheaper than the JF PA offering. Admittedly the two aircraft are totally different, but no icing modelled on the JF version of their PA is no no for me I'm afraid. Missed opportunity for JF.

+1 Exactly this and my thoughts as well.

They're not implementing something that's already broken at the core, the JF Arrow is the very plane that we SHOULD be supporting, not the scam junk that out there now.

Already broken at the core? Well, ground handling is also broken at the core. Do you think the plane should start in the air then?
