December 24, 20205 yr I read in the Update thread that the clouds were going to be fixed on the latest update. Can anyone confirm? Mine are still very pixelated. Intel Core i7 12700K (5.0GHz Max Boost Clock) 12-Core CPU 32GB G.Skill Performance DDR4 SDRAM 3600MHz Graphics Processor:12GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, GDDR6x System 2TB Western Digital, NVMe M.2 Solid State Drive
December 24, 20205 yr I think the official wording was they would be as they were prior to update 5 I think. I have seen an improvement however still some pixelation. I don’t think we will see a fix until DX12 has been implemented.
December 24, 20205 yr No, the grainy and pixelated clouds are still being worked on according to the Feedback Snapshot. There is a decent chance that this issue might be attributed to the new TAA and sharpening filter, and not to the cloud system. Many users are reporting that turning off the sharpening greatly improves the appearance of the clouds. Use this thread as a guide.
December 24, 20205 yr I guess it's placebo but I had the impression that the clouds were much less pixelated on my side since the update.
December 24, 20205 yr Mine are also certainly better than before the latest update. AMD Ryzen 7 5800x3d, MSI X570 Pro, 32 gb DDR4 3600 ram, Gigabyte 6800 16gb GPU, 1x 2tb Samsung NvMe , 1x 2tb Sabrent NvME, 1x Crucial 4tb Nvme M2 Drive
December 24, 20205 yr Mine are a lot better with this update - can you post a screenshot of what you're seeing? Some of the clouds however are a bit pixelated in the distance but that can be forgiven as I think they eventually get better. Here is my clouds after the update: On 12/22/2020 at 10:40 PM, highflyer2020 said: My clouds look a lot better with this update 😄 this is without the sharpening 0 hack in the config file. December 24, 20205 yr It depends on the weather...it can be very good... average.... or not good at all.
December 25, 20205 yr They are not fixed. They simply re-introduced the originals back after fixing the flickering issue. Still tearing pixelated and grainy often. SAR Pilot. Flight Sim'ing since the beginning.
December 25, 20205 yr I must be missing something as I have never had pixelated clouds. Flew through clouds for about 3 hours today and they were just as fluffy as ever (well, stormy fluffy - hehehe). Maybe it's a 2K or 4K thing, as I'm running at 'only' 1080p (with volumetric clouds set to ultra).

I was going to post a similar question as I had just noticed the clouds are far worse since the update 🙂 Simming since FS 98. MSFS rig - Ryzen 3600 4.2Ghz - 32GB RAM 3600Mhz - Motherboard MSI 570 A Pro - RTX 2080 Ti -all overclocked - 2xNVME storage. PSU Corsair HX850i platinum. Average 30Fps on 4K ultra.
December 25, 20205 yr It is strange how people have such different experiences, although maybe not with the different amount of hardware and multitude of different settings available. Mine are about the same after this update, although I don't really notice it so much now anyway unless I specifically look for it. I have left sharpening on. There are a few visual anomalies anyway that I hope DX12 will take care of (or sooner hopefully). Things such as a horizon line cutting across the scenery, short fine vertical bars above some clouds in the distance - looks like hair on clouds, but it fades out within seconds. Aircraft parts, such as the compass, having a halo around them that disrupts water reflections. Like I say, we may have to wait until the summer and DX12, as it is clear Asobo have a lot of other problems to solve at the moment. Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio. Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's. Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.
December 25, 20205 yr I am also noticing color banding that was not apperent before the update. Simming since FS 98. MSFS rig - Ryzen 3600 4.2Ghz - 32GB RAM 3600Mhz - Motherboard MSI 570 A Pro - RTX 2080 Ti -all overclocked - 2xNVME storage. PSU Corsair HX850i platinum. Average 30Fps on 4K ultra.
