January 5, 20215 yr Don’t ask, why I am doing this. Insanity might be part of the reason. But it’s plenty of fun to tinker with them and see how far I can tweak them to work in an entirely new environment. And that’s the only reason why I do ships too. We’ll start with payware props, all of them made for FSX (newer ones rarely work in MSFS). So it was good that I never deleted them. They all come with working VCs, which means, many of the gauges work too. First the JF Curtiss C 47 Here’s the JF DC 4. The Carvair works too With its panel JF Connie JF Vickers Viscount Let’s enter the Jet age. With one exception, panels show up as in FSX, but the gauges don’t work. First my favorite, the CS 707-300 As you can see, the panel is there, but gauges are a no-show. Oh well…I still like to hand fly her on occasion in MSFS. Will CS ever offer one for MSFS? I doubt it CS 727-200. For some reason their 737-200 won’t work in MSFS JF De Havilland Comet with working panel. What an elegant bird CS Tristar Let’s move to the freeware section. Panels show up but gauges won’t work. January 5, 20215 yr You didn't just get them working in MSFS. You managed to showcase them with some really great environments/pictures. John
January 6, 20215 yr Nice work Bernd! They're all looking fine. As you know, I suffer from the same form of madness, so I might pm you in a bit with a couple of questions, rather than tie up a thread here. January 6, 20215 yr I'd be curious to know what is involved in getting those JF airliners in MSFS. I've got all of those things, and I'd like to have a shot at getting them going in the new sim. Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

January 6, 20215 yr Nice work😀 So your pulling these through from FSX versions, not P3D? I have many of these & its great to see them in MSFS. Presumably they are for 'your PC only' etc. What do you use to work your magic? Blender? T45 Edited January 6, 20215 yr by Treetops45

Alan, you'll need the MSFS Legacy Importer, which you can find here (registration is required) https://www.nexusmods.com/microsoftflightsimulator/mods/117 Scroll down to the latest version, uploaded on Dec. 31.2020, it's build 0.2.5. Here is a link to a video, the developer shared on YT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tt_6Vsp9xZY&ab_channel=alexmarko It's for an earlier version, but the basics are the same. I needed to watch it a couple of times to fully understand, what he actually meant. But once you get used to it, it's a fairly simple, easy operation. He has more videos on his channel, all dealing with FSX/P3D port-overs. I just found another video, that might be better suited: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQ0Kymf54vs&ab_channel=RaizSpace 2 hours ago, Treetops45 said: So your pulling these through from FSX versions, not P3D? T45 Everything prior to P3D v4 will show up in one way or another. Not all will work though, unfortunately. So it's a bit of a hit and miss exercise. They usually want to be flown in "Legacy" mode. Over the last couple of weeks I have tried around 120 FSX/P3D payware/freeware planes in MSFS. Fairly simple models, such as the vintage planes from Golden Age Simulations for example, work just as nice as in FSX. The more complex the planes get, the more difficulties you will encounter during the port-over process. That is why I didn't bother PMDG or A2A planes. Funnily, the A2A P 47 works great in MSFS. Quite a few from Milviz such as the F 86, or F 100 work well too. But the Beaver and Twotter didn't want to co-operate. There is one caveat though: during one of the last "updates" of Asobo, they changed a code with the result that in these legacy planes there is nothing in the cockpit anymore clickable. So if you are used to adjust the RPM levers with your mouse for example, you will need to assign keys on your keyboard now instead. There is also a thread on the official MSFS forum that deals with the port-over: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/fsx-import-showcase/165910/590 And yes, they are for my PC only. 1 hour ago, Adrian123 said: Lets see a VC screenshot and operation. January 6, 20215 yr It’s impressive how good these older models can look in MSFS. Great job on the import and screenshots! January 8, 20215 yr Bernd: Very interesting post...and, of course, a great set of images...!! As someone, who is "currently" actually flying (or have them active in the hangar), in my FSX/SE world, almost all these above aircraft, except maybe one,...while most folks have already forgotten (and justifiably so...🙂...) about that (bygone) platform... Let me first tell you, the externals, here, surely look good, if not better, than what I see in FSX...(btw, loved your choice of the Canadian North (Polar Bear and Midnight Sun) livery. I was flying that plane just last week...(that logo is now gone, after merger with First Air)...... So, I understand, what you're saying is, (depending on plane), the VC gauges are either no-show...or/and non-clickable...I notice....(so, you've to hand-fly)... Still like you've said...it will be a while, before, we see official versions of these classics, in MSFS, so, this exercise must feel worthwhile, although, I understand, for now, it's just for your "PC" and only for our "eyes"....🙂...
