I'm sure that is correct. And for me it's the reason XP is still hanging on in there with regard to MS2020. It's hard just to delete a grands worth of addons.

"holding on" doesn't explain XPs 9% MoM growth. it can be x-planed (lol) by say (rough numbers) 5% MoM growth of MSFS, and 6% of existing MSFS users switching to XPlane a month (once they have flown over their house for the 30 or 40th time) and never looking back. Nor does wishful thinking.😂Simple maths even if you are right which I doubt. - 9% of 150000 (say) for Xp = 13500 new users. 5% of 2000000 for MS2020 = 100000 new users.😂 Edited February 2, 20215 yr by jarmstro

And if you own an Xbox what is the better alternative? On what basis will they be eligible for a refund?

We're talking about a group of people that demand refunds if they only get 55fps at 1080p instead of the 60fps they were promised, or a game character seems out of place in the story. How exactly do you think they are going to react after being told repeatedly over the last 24 months they can fly over an exact rendition of their house at 60fps at 8k max settings in a plane with every button working just like the real thing? Surprise and delight at the major technological achievement and it meeting their expectations in every way or Seething rage at having just blown like $1000 on those promises. It's hard just to delete a grands worth of addons. This is a real argument indeed, and I spent more than one grand on Prepar3d, and for some time X-Plane, addons. I finally decided it's better to make a hard cut with the appearance of MSFS. I found it better to stop buying anything for both of them and start investing into the future, instead of further collecting more legacy addons and detecting being stuck in an old system to start over after a couple of more years. I've been rewarded with so much fun since early alpha and after release of MSFS which was more than worth the switch. And I've never been flying so much within 30 years. thus this money stars paying back quickly. And no, I've not visited my house 50-times, just twice, But, I've seen stunning landscapes in Vietnam yesterday (no addons required) and the Bahamas the day before (freeware addon). Default landclasses just don't do justice them. And yes, I know how Ortho4XP (and Aeroscenery, if that matters) work, devoted enough time to them. Now it's time for flying. Not to say, there are no issues, more for the big bird pilots than for me as 172-er. But we'll get there, believe me. I have no doubt it will sell well. As a third-party developer, I'm less concerned with how many copies it sells on XBox as I am on how many of those users will stick around and purchase addons and make a hobby of it. If every single user who buys this on xbox buys one of my addons, I'll take early retirement, but I can keep dreaming 🤪 I'm assuming the majority will be less hardcore simmers, and will treat it as a bit of fun, fly over their own house, do a few challenges and then just move on. I hope MS will try to keep it interesting and engaging, but I think that is much much easier said than done, especially with the next big thing coming out always around the corner 15 minutes ago, pmb said: This is a real argument indeed, and I spent more than one grand on Prepar3d, and for some time X-Plane, addons. True, but nobody is forcing you to delete all your P3D/XP addons. There is still plenty of enjoyment to be had from these sims and addons, and they'll be getting upgrades as well. I'm more confident XP addons will continue to work in XP12 and beyond and will look very good with the engine upgrade as I am in P3D products remaining compatible. Many people also predicted that MFS wouldn't need addons throwing huge amounts of hate towards 3rd-party developers, and look how that turned out. MFS is certainly much more fun and usable out of the box without addons and it's an amazing sim for flying in areas that otherwise I'd never have bothered with, but I'm really waiting for some good aircraft and helicopters. I'd expect once PMDG and others have products out, the numbers remaining on P3D will drop even further.
