I’m hitting in to the teens in VRAM and just hit 20GB VRAM using 4K and also using VR. Over London. It’s smooth but oh my does it use the graphics card! (3090).

I can pretty much guarantee that was the problem. 6 gigs of Vram like it or not is just not enough for higher graphic settings. You will likely notice less pauses as you enter a dense scenery area as an added benefit. If you still have any issues lower your terrain loading distance down one notch and that should take care of it. Your watching the v ram usage so you will be able to fine tune to your liking. Enjoy your flight!

Render Scaling might also help. I run a 3070 at  just1440p not 4K  but still run my render scaling at 90% partly to crib a bit more vram.

Sure. This is for the VCRUNTIME140.dll error causing a CTD...

To troubleshoot this issue, do the following:

  • Press the Windows Key + R, type "appwiz.cpl" and then press Enter.
  • Locate the Microsoft Visual C++ programs on the list.
  • Select each entry and then click Uninstall.
  • Download a fresh copy of Microsoft Visual C++ from this pageand then install it.

For future reference, I like to use this archive. It contains all the VCREDIST versions in one package. Install them all (x86 and x64) if you have a 64bit version of Windows. Install only the x86 versions if you have a 32bit version of Windows.

Also, they can be uninstalled from Settings, Apps, instead of appwiz.cpl. (6 of one, half dozen of the other...)

But they didn't release that information until the Update was live.

I received notification about this about 1 hour before the update was available - via Twitter. Maybe widen your horizons a bit? The MSFS team is on Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, Discord and probably more ...

This is a known issue and has been reported many times since the release of MSFS 2020. I reapplied the various runtime packages without uninstalling anything and that sorted it.

It amazes me how this simple solution seems to elude a lot of folks. I'm going to hazard a guess and suggest that 95% of problems people are reporting in regards to performance issues will go away if settings are turned down a notch or two.

I wouldn't call Twitter, FB, Reddit et al, widening one's horizons but thanks for the tip.

my update is on a  loop @118.fsbasepackage, it downloads to 400mb and then goes back to the start. Someone did tell me about the "temp" folders in Windows , changed that but still no luck

Nope they are never on the Discord server (and I dont blame them), sometimes there are links on the discord to when you can get to see  them on Twitch.

Perhaps you are confused by the lists on the sidebar, the various MSFS 'Teams' listed there are just moderators of the discord
