Free Tutorials for Aerosoft CRJ for MSFS

Probably. Actually I'm looking forward to this one a lot; I just wish they'd get on with it, after all, it was originally supposed to be out weeks ago. Seems like when it comes to CRJ's and Aerosoft, they wouldn't know a deadline if you attached bells to it and smacked 'em over the head with the thing.

Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

What I still don't understand is why folks expect THIS Aerosoft release to be any different than the previous ones? It's like the husband who still won't believe his wife cheats on him even though she's cheated on him three times already.

The first tutorial, Safety Checks, in the “Let’s have coffee and learn to fly the CRJ” was posted today.

https://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/topic/159821-episode-one-the-safety-checks/

I have to say... that's a very good video. One of the best instructional/tutorial video's I've ever seen. Very detailed, he takes the time but itsn't slow, he explains each and every abbreviation, what you should look for and expect... it's very complete! Extremely well done imho! You'd almost buy this CRJ just for those video's. Can't wait for the next video! (And the plane itself, obviously.)

Yup, it's close for sure. But honestly, when companies start going 'and here's even more previews' - when everyone's already seen a ton of them - instead of just releasing the thing, that actually makes me less likely to buy it, simply because it's just annoying. There's a big difference between fun flirting and being and annoying ***** teaser, and in marketing terms, clearly some of these people don't know what that difference is on occasion. 🤣

One explanation is that Aerosoft has various teams working on different aspects of the development. Once a team has completed its project, it's a form of beta testing by releasing it early. I am sure that real pilots/ simmers will look at the tutorial and point out omissions. By fixing these errors, everyone will benefit when the plane finally comes out. While it's true that teasing may be annoying, it may, in the long run, be a positive choice in our hobby.

That's very subjective.

You saw mostly picture previews, this is something different.

In DCS too usually the official manual is released (even if still in wip) before the product is released so people can start reading more deepely about the module way of working, its avionics etc etc.

I don't consider this to be as "useless" as yet more screenshots, it's something much more useful.

What do you mean by this statement?  Just curious by what you consider the "flight model approach".

The issues with other Aerosoft aircraft where they would become very unstable and sometimes fall out of the sky if a minimum FPS was not maintained stutter free.  The post I quoted said 18fps but I have a memory of the magic number being 21fps.

When reported as a bug Aerosoft responded that it was part of the way the aircraft was designed...I’m not a technically savvy person but there was something in their approach to flight models that stopped working properly if there were even small deteriorations in FPS below a certain threshold.

I plunged a few A330’s into the ground because of this...I basically had to cruise with all AI traffic off and all sliders to the left to avoid any pauses from items loading in etc.

BUT!  Having said all that, none of that dampens my enthusiasm for this aircraft’s upcoming release.

For those of us that are just coming around to paying attention to the CRJ line of airplanes, there is a ton of older information available with some detailed searches, but, most of the info is for the smaller, less powered, and no longer in production CRJ 200, Having said that and after reviewing some of the POH and PFM for some of the mainline express operators, I find that most of the information is still very useful.  While Aerosoft is going all out with fully updated 6 volumes of Manuals and a projected boat load of short tutorial videos, you might still want to review some of the other stuff out there in the free download cyber world.

I am always attracted to a well done written flight tutorial and it appears that Aerosoft will be providing two tutorials, the first one for the CRJ 700 is the more detailed version and will be supported by the "Come Fly With Me" short (10 - 15 min) videos by an active real-world CRJ pilot.  These should be very informative mainly because it not a strict "how to", but more like here is how and why I do it, you can watch over my shoulder, and ask questions in the forum. The first one of these videos was released today.  The next one is an outstanding "exterior walk around inspection" that is filled with tons of life experiences and various tid-bits of useful info if you are new to CRJs.

There are other tutorials and manuals that were written for X-Plane and P3D versions of the CRJ.  These will also be the CRJ 200 but, these will also have the 700 and 900 models.  These are very easy to find and download. There is one tutorial for the early X-Plane CRJ that is in Spain that looks like it could be adapted to the MSFS version depending on how much or how little the SIDs and STARs have changed in the last decade or two. Someone spent some serious time putting this one together.

Most of my real world professional training was provided by Flight Safety and was limited to Cessna Citations and Learjets so I will be ready to soak up all the CAE Manuals and charts for the CRJ family while remaining on the lookout for older tutorials to add to my library.

Gotta run for now.  Enjoy the new CRJ.  My best guess for release is the end of this week or early next week - it is a moving target.

Ray

So creating "EXCITEMENT" just prior to release is not a smart move ? I call it "clever marketing".

Is this not exactly what Microsoft and Asobo did prior to release of MSFS?  Clever marketing, dousing the ardour of other devs, good sense and logical, call it what you will, it works.

I agree that marketing and hype works very well. However, there comes a point when there is just too much of it and life is too short for that trash. I'm sure they do their homework on what works, but just release the darn thing already...

RICHUK,

I could not agree with you more.  I absolutely hated the MS/Asobo marketing hype and resolved, at least ten times per day, that I would have nothing to do with this programme.  Famous last words I guess, as I enjoy the dickens out of it every day now. Again, I guess (know) that, this process works LOL

That, however, was not the point I was making with my previous post.

It was simply a matter of comparing Aerosofts (lessons learnt) approach to the release which is still, repeat, still to be released.

I appreciate that, Tony. I referenced your post purely to rant about how annoying marketing is rather than to agree/disagree with your view etc. I think we are on the same page. Both kinda annoyed at marketing BS and both want the aircraft to be released so we can get on with our lives lol.

While Aerosoft is going all out with fully updated 6 volumes of Manuals and a projected boat load of short tutorial videos

To be honest, I don't need "6 manuals" or 100 tutorial videos. What I need is a concise tutorial flight, from start up to shut down. The rest I'll figure out by myself, or watch the many videos on youtube. Look, mom, I learned how to fly this big ol' plane by watching youtube videos!

Aersoft's manuals have a tendency to be extremely verbose and chatty. For their Airbus version I cut down their 130 page tutorial flight manual to about 3 pages of concise information that got me from A to B.

What I do want is a plane that doesn't randomly fall out of the sky.
