Live weather down again?

Since last year, it might be the other way around actually.

It is indeed. Windows 10 has a feature called fast startup that, when enabled, does not actually shut down the Windows kernel or drivers. Instead, it simply refreshes the RAM with a hibernation file at startup. Performing a restart avoids this issue.

Anyone else’s live weather down?

Try this, it works for me every time, never had live weather not loading in 350 hours of MSFS:

Spawn onto gate/runway with 'Clear Skies' from the main menu.

THEN select live weather. It takes a moment (max 15 seconds) and live weather will load.

Most of what is said on the Internet may be the same thing they shovel on the regular basis at the local barn.

YBCS currently has clear skies and this in the middle of a cyclone.  Definitely something out of kilter here.

Seems to be loading now, although it’s nothing like it is supposed to be in real life...

Wouldn't it be nice if ONCE just ONCE we could get a download from MSFS that did what it was supposed to do, and did it without something else ending up being broken.

I am in Roswell Ga. just north of KATL. Out my window its overcast. I load the sim at KATL with live time, traffic, and weather.

The sim loads with a heavy rain and visibility so low I couldn't see past the little yellow pushback 'apparatus' (Don't know the proper name).

I go back to the main menu, change settings to allow me to start with custom setting. I select live time and clear skies and spawn at same parking spot. I then select live weather. This time I get perfectly clear skies. I take the drone camera up. As far as the eyes can see there is not a cloud in the sky and not a knot of wind (wind sock) is dead.

This sim is the most beautiful as far is scenery goes, but it is the most frustrating piece of software I have ever come across.

Nothing seem to work consistently. Its always a word not allowed shoot you will have a good flight or any flight at all. its 50/50 chance that you end up with a CTD.

The continuing saga is, live weather is broken. (More than it was previously).

Happy days. Thanks MSFS

The weather is frustrating, but as you say, it’s a continuing saga and there doesn’t seem to be any reason to think it’s a result of the latest hotfix.

I started to wonder this weather thing already two or three days ago. I´m exploring UK after the world update and other weather sources are reporting some overcast clouds. In the sim, clear skies.... The pressure is right though. Frustrating indeed....

I don't understand why Asobo can't fix Live Weather. It's just data. Either it's the correct weather at a location or it's not.

Their weather data comes from forecasts not observations. So it's never going to be 100% accurate.

Well, if the forecast is always sunny, it must be a forecast for an interesting planet with no clouds or precipitation.

Something is being lost in translation between Meteoblue and the MSFS servers. Both Unreal Weather and REX WeatherForce (which use METAR data) seem to inject weather consistently into MSFS, so how difficult can this be for Asobo to fix Live Weather?

It's inconsistent. Some days I go 3-4 flights without losing the live weather, some days I need to reset the sim after every flight.

Maybe they're just having a hard time tracking down the issue because of that inconsistency.

Try this:

I really want to ditch these 3rd party weather injectors, because the less software that's running in parallel to MSFS, the better.

I understand that and even in best case scenarios don't expect  it to be perfect. But, good lord when you go to a  city, eg. Atlanta where you know its been sunny all day, expected to be for a week: you load a real time flight at 2pm and find what's close to being a thunderstorm, no forecast from any weather data can be that off.

Tuskin,

Mate I just left there and there is not a cloud in sight.  I then selected clear skies ...  flew ... then selected live weather from the top taskbar and nothing changed.  I thought/hoped that todays hotfix might sort it out but not happening for me.

Any suggestions.
