Flysimware Grumman Widgeon out

What max airspeed did you enter for the neofly aircraft database as this bird is 160 MPH max speed. And the database will want 139 as its KIAS. I found the tip did not appear until i was in the yellow label section of the airspeed indicator. I also found some issues with the speed reference section and updated it for beta 2.0. Then tested again and neofly will display at the yellow.

The overhead panel has all the reference speeds labeled in MPH.

Thank you!  I had entered 153 as the cruising speed when adding this aircraft to the NeoFly database.  That's the only speed reference there was, but upping the number to 160 fixed it, as well as the 2.0 release which seemed (on the one flight so far) to not want to creep up into the 160KIA range.

Thanks again and loving this plane! 🤙

Hi Flysimware, I bought your Widgeon a few days ago an like it very much.

But it seems there are some problems with the outside model. Viewing it from different distances, it is changig its shape. Espacially on the upside of the nose and the wings.

According to an email on this subject this was solved as it was the users program or something like that causing the distortion.

Here's the error message.  I think I know what happened I moved my MSFS to the D drive and now have community folder on C and D drive.  They seem to be the same folder though if I add a plane to the D drive community folder it's in the C drive community folder also.

Thanks trying out version 2.0 now!

So… did a test flight of 2.0. Minor thing - flaps lock has a tooltip that reads Gear Lock. So now they are Gear Lock on both sides. 😉 That’s tiny. But hey, I wanted to point it out. I noticed some new sounds? When you turn the battery on, there is that spool that happens that I don’t seem to recall in the past? Anyway, sounds great!

Tailwheel lock - I am able to engage and disengage with the VC handle and mouse, but not with the tailwheel lock assigned button on my Thrustmaster Airbus stick. Just thought I’d mention.

Ground handling - did that change? It seemed a little tougher to handle than before and a little more prone to nosing over than before. I actually don’t mind because that’s consistent with how taildraggers are, so I don’t mind the additional challenge.

Great job otherwise, I LOVE the new flaps/gear system! This is getting better and better! Such an amazing aircraft to have in my hangar. I want more people to experience this.

I will fix the tooltip today. Thanks for reporting it, That is why i like to release a beta as i am a small Company and the more testers the better results.

I also have noticed the tailwheel lock and other things like the hydraulic toggle switch do not work from assignments but do work if you code them into switches. I think it's an Asobo issue.

Yes the engine performance and flight dynamics both have been updated several times trying to get the best realism. We found the take off label on the elevator trim was way off from our P3D version of this product and that causes the nose heavy cg. I will have to update the P3D version as some point.

Thanks for the feedback.

@Flysimware, if I may offer some feedback on this fantastic bird, there are a couple of things that I would be very appreciative of you taking a look at.  Hopefully this doesn't sound like minutiae.

2.  Not a showstopper but is there anything that could be done to clean up the magnetic compass face?  It just looks a bit, well, raw and unfinished with the gap in the tickmarks (unless that's a shadow??), unless this was the intent based on the reference aircraft?   Just asking.

Otherwise, love the plane and the attention to detail you've put in.

Thanks!

Got fixed today. Thanks for reporting.

Looks like this is uber hot off the press...screenshots/main site link will follow.

If they do bring their Lear 35A to MSFS I expect the panel to be ready to accept someone’s GTN750.

GTN 750's do not work correctly in msfs2020 from what i heard. There is another 3rd party that offer a semi working one for the time being but Flight 1 and Reality XP have nothing for this sim as of right now.

Did you remember the solution? Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find out until now.

Sorry your question reminded me of the question i got from an email that caused distortion when the elevator or ailerons moved. But that was caused from some 3rd party software or something like that as he said to ignore his complaint.

Now for you post you stated that the shape changes as the distance gets further. That is accurate as there are 5 LOD (level of detail) models so the performance for flying online is not heavy for others who are far away. So as you zoom out the mesh will get lower in poly count and some mesh will be removed until you are at LOD 5 which is like a basic flying box. Well a really low poly fuselage and wings only.

Depending on monitors this could change for some as i use an ultra wide monitor. So if your just curious as why or it's really bad from your monitor please let me know and share some images. You can even count the LOD's from 1-5 so you know where it gets bad and still noticeable.

I understand we are in a holding pattern waiting for a decent GTN750.  Maybe one day soon.

Thanks for yout patience. I am aware, that there are different LOD, but the effects I noticed are seems not to be typical for different LODs, even if theay are caused by them.

The first picture shows the Widgeon from a close distance. Everything is ok for me. The upper right corner show a magnification of the planes nose.

The second one shows the Widgeon from few more distance. I marked the problem areas and the magnification in the upper right corner shows new parts.

Before I took these screenshots, I emptied the community folder, deleted the content.xml and the rolling cache.

I hope these Pictures explains what I mean, when I was talking about changing the shape.

Ron

Any news on the paint kit? The one available on the Flysimware seems to be the old one.

Peter

Just tried taking the 2.0 Beta up and seem to be getting the black crash screen and "You've overstressed the aircraft" message the moment I enter the yellow arc in ASI @ 160mp.

Wasn't seeing this behavior before so Is this now correct ?
