Well that's a disappointing way to end the evening!

LOL this was an amazing update today. Did you listen to Jorg's interview. Also DX12U update will already provide some performance improvements or did you miss that! 🙂. Honestly some peoples glasses are always half empty, I'm looking at this trailer and I'm still amazed at what they've managed with this sim, with the streaming data and photogrammetry, a great time to get into flight simulation.

Sim Update 5, which is getting released the same day. Jayne said in the forums that they'll talk a lot about DirectX 12 on the 30th June Q&A!

Does anybody know where they announced that Sim Update 5 will also be the DirectX 12 Update for PC? A link to the source that ChaoticBeauty references would be appreciated.  Thanks!

It says sim update 5 will be released same day as Xbox release so we can assume it's the DX12 update

Yes, I “assume” that as well.  It doesn’t make any sense that Sim Update 5 would still use DirectX 11.

But it’s still not explicitly stated that Sim Update 5 will support DirectX 12 for PC.

It’s possible that Sim Update 5 for PC still runs on DirectX 11 while the X-Box version of MSFS runs on DirectX 12.  I doubt this will happen though.

Which is why I find it odd that Microsoft/Asobo have not explicitly stated Sim Update 5 for PC will support DirectX 12. I just want to clarify how ChaoticBeauty came up with the information that Sim Update 5 for PC will support DirectX 12 - maybe it was a quote somewhere from Asobo/Microsoft, maybe it was from the Twitch Q&A, etc.

So what? Asobo are going to tell them they can't release there product? How did you think that scenario was going to play out? 🙂

More a case of "why would anyone pay for something that's going to come free in a few months", just find it odd.

They also said they were going to do a beta for the next update, that wouldn't have any new content but would be a big performance increase

I'm not sure there is a smiley that has tounge placed firmly in cheek, which maybe I should have used at the end of the comment you quoted.

I agree with everything you say. Has been an amazing couple of days of news for a sim that is getting better and better and providing me with 100s of hours of enjoyment.

Adding a Switzerland mesh for £9.99 on the day they announce that Switzerland is part of the next world update....hmmmmm

Totally agree. Very bad pratice to sell this to unsuspecting customers who may not realise an even better mesh will be released for free soon by MS themselves.

I believe it was said the next Q&A would talk about DX12

Did anyone notice the fixes for "High Quality Terrain Map After Zooming in" and "Dreadful Performance" are coming in the July 27 update? The performance improvements aren't surprising anymore, after all the announcements, still good to learn it straight from the horse's mouth.

The sim update may not provide the same detail mesh as the payware product... maybe not odd after all.

How do you know that?

When MS released the USA update, the mesh where I live got trashed, and a freeware mesh download was required to restore it.. so Asobo/MS are not always the "even better" solution..

I don't know 100% Bert but MS/Asobo have made it very clear over the past few video Q&As that they have amazing data for Switzerland (where I currently live by the way) which I assume includes a fantastic DEM.

I'm all for a great Swiss DEM but just think they could be a bit clearer to potential customers before selling a 3rd party mesh on the marketplace just a couple of months prior to the next WU which mostly a better DEM. And by the way FS Dreamteam are one of my favourite developers so it as much as possible I am not in any way being biased here.

Anyone tried the new landing challenges yet? The terrain morphing is really really bad, its literally right in front of your eyes! I really hope that is fixed with this big XBOX update coming!
