DC-6 and my appalling performance

As suggested on the PMDG Topic, did you try Disabling the Realistic Engine Wear and Simulation to see if FPS improves? Just an idea to try

Yup, tried this with no success Alec. Thanks.

Not only is there any need with a cpu@ 5 and a 3090 to be running anything less than ultra, it bothers me that there is somthing wrong your end.

Down load GPUZ and watch your GPU memory temps. If your are like my first 3080 you can get to over 105F on the memory, your GPU themp can look fine, as your GPU memory is cooking. I had a new card and now the GPU mem temps never goes over 82F. Its totaly diffrent to looking at you GPU temps. Goto youtube and type RTX 3080 or 3090 memory temps and see.

The last thing i can think is when you load your DC 6 look at maintance and look to see if your engines are RED if they are there is a bug in the DC6 that will bring your FPS right down.

I tried my best. Good luck Howard.

PS if you dont run MSFS on ultra with a 3090 i will come down to bristol and slap you😜😀

Hee hee, a slap from Dave, 😜 Hey, seriously, as I said earlier, after a reinstall, I booted into a flight from my local airport EGGD (Bristol) this is third party airport and hey presto, 35fps sat on the runway. Took her up for a quick spin, frames still at 30+ in the VC and up to 55 in external view. Then I thought I'd continue with testing and so went back to the main menu, selected Gatwick and, here we go again, about 20-22fps  VC and up to 55 in external view.   Since this I have never seen the expected fps that I had after the initial reinstall.

Did you mean to type 105C instead of 105F? 105F is about 40C, which is not really "cooking" for a memory chip.

Just to think if you struggle with the DC6 in MSFS now just imagine whats going to happen when the 737,777,747 drops. Currently my DC6 runs better than the CJ4  mod, FBW A320 and most of the GA aircraft. Can't speak for the CRJ as I don't have and uninterested in that aircraft. The Just Flight arrow is good also.

Probably with the 737, you are looking at single digit FPS. I remember struggling with the 737 in P3D.  I get good FPS with the DC6. not much different from the Arrow and Seminole.

Hi Bob, what monitor resolution are you running?

I run 2K, and the reason I do that is for performance. I sit with the monitor screen 12" from my eye, and a 4K monitor makes no sense to me at all at that viewing distance. I also work in the very high end video field, and I still consult in that field, and I have 4K and 8 K monitors at work, so I am pretty familiar with issues of resolution.

Here’s a wild azz guess. Turn the glass cockpit refresh to low. I know it shouldn’t matter but give it a shot.

I'm wondering, is there anyone here who is running a 4K monitor and what kind of fps you're getting?

I'm running 5k just fine...  5120x1440 on a 2080ti and i don't even check FPS b/c it is so smooth I don't feel the need to check.  Don't think it is a 4K thing, should be no issue with your specs.  I'm sure this has been asked but nothing in your community folder?  No mods?

I do and I just checked.

Yeah, I've tested with the community folder empty of other third party addons, no difference.

Hi Søren, that is very helpful, as you have almost exactly the same settings as myself. Your performance is what I would expect on my machine. Could I ask a big favour... would you be happy to do a quick test from the default Charles de Gaule, (don't have the Fly Tampa EKCH) sat at the end of the runway and report back your findings, with high settings? That would effectively show a very objective result and would be extremely helpful.
