DC-6 and my appalling performance

For all other aircraft I use these settings.

I Run these setting with FPS locked with RTSS locked @ 40( I always use RTSS)

Listen to me. This game is not multithreaded very well. Certain threads are all piled up on the same core. LOD adds of lot to your CPU, it has nothing to do with your amazing GPU that you have. This aircraft simulate more than any other aircraft in MSFS. That takes more CPU cycle away from what would be to render a higher LOD. In other to relief your CPU, you need to lower down your LOD when you fly the DC-6. On July 27th, there is a performance build that should help a lot with CPU threads by moving the CoherantGTDraw process to a different core. When that happen, you can probably go back to LOD 150. For now, you need to lower it down to 100. Your fps will be back in the 30s.

Sorry Claude, as expected, it made zero difference. 😏

hmm. Something is not right. I get higher fps than you in a pc that I would think is considered lower configuration than yours.

Changing in-sim settings is not going to bring up my framerates to something acceptable. I think there is some external influence going on here and unsure what it is. As I mentioned earlier, I removed the Real Sim Gear driver for the GNS530 which loads automatically, and after doing so, the next flight I started was showing 35fps, which is exacrtly what I would have expected. But for some reason, it only lasted that one flight, once I tried setting up other flights from different airports it reverted back to about 20fps. It's very , very odd. But as I mentioned, I really don't see this being corrected within sim settings.

Whats your  GPU memory temps like. Not your  GPU temp, it’s memory temps? GPU memory temps.

Turning down your RS should have given you a good FPS boost

Rockliffe,

I believe that PMDG have just released an update.  I do not own this aircraft but I did notice somewhere that the update fixes a few things. As an owner you may already be aware of the update so I hope I am not preaching to the converted (or Updated LOL)

Good luck mate.  I would add though that very few people I believe are reporting performance problems so maybe even an uninstall reinstall???

Hi Tony, thanks for your input. Sure, only today I discovered there was an update available. I think I will do a reinstall after downloading the new version.

Not sure if it was mentioned, but if you have your frames locked (gsync on) in the Nvidia control panel...turn that off and try it.

Thanks Jeff, but I never touch the Nvidia CP, so it is on default.

Try turning your rendering scale down from 100 to 80.

My performance isn't stellar (decently lower than the FBW A320NX) but I kind of attributed that to the INSANE number of gauges and lights and dials. I do hope PMDG looks into optimizing it slightly but honestly I'm amazed that it runs as well as it does given the complexity of the simulation.

Hi Howard,

While I don't have the PMDG DC6 installed in my system, I have seen some topicson the original PMDG forum about Performance Loss due to some kind of Code Issue associated with the Realistic Engine Simulation.

https://forum.pmdg.com/forum/main-forum/pmdg-dc-6-cloudmaster-forum/133408-fps-drops-graduallyt-with-realistic-engine-damage

Maybe this is why you are suffering these fps low.

Regards!

You tried disabling all addons in the Community folder in case of conflict?
