July 6, 20214 yr I agree! And I've only seen a very very small amount of the checker clouds. The shadows in the clouds are better also. All my flights today have been with EA on, Volumetric clouds on, HDR off. Later today a couple with HDR on. Maurice J I9 12900k \ EVGA 3080ti \ G-Skill 32GB \ Samsung 4K TV

July 6, 20214 yr It looks nice, but is it still the case that EA clouds are set globally? So you can't see the wide variations of weather, or fly tactically around weather like you can with the old clouds? In other words, if it is cloudy at JFK and clear at EWR, it will all be the same with EA clouds? Streaming at twitch.tv/brynmwr

However as the injected weather changes, atmospheric conditions also change. LM has not implemented weather regions which would vary based on the METAR at a specific weather station.
July 6, 20214 yr Not the cloud type that shows off texture realism that well, but AS textures are clearly superior to the new kid.... Stan NO MORE WAFFLES......except for breakfast tomorrow with Vermont maple syrup! Thank you Active Sky. You may have just broken the code. After 2 more flights tonight above FL300, I did not see a waffle anywhere. Tomorrow I will try to confirm what I'm seeing today. Stan Edited July 7, 20214 yr by spilok

Only downside with EA clouds on is the global weather theme that comes with them even with AS3PD and the rapid cloud changes.... Very unrealistic. Shame HiFi can't do anything about it and LM still hasn't addressed it. Eric

Yes, still set globally and basically you have to give up flying with realistic weather due to the global weather theme that is mandatory with EA volumetric clouds on. The weather radar is no where close to being useful. What to see how bad the global model is? Fly in Florida I the late afternoon during summer. With ASCA 2D clouds, it's way closer to what is actually occurring. With EA clouds, not even close. Eric

July 7, 20214 yr Well I was convinced and sucumbed to getting Active Sky (AS) today!. Now to work out what AS is doing LOL! But it seems to work fine with the AS 5.2 HF update installed. That is a neat feature being able to dial up 122.0 on the comms and get the local weather. First place I went to however was solid overcast at 900 ft and having chosen a piston I was still in it at 8000 ft. Hmmm! But I am trying it using your recommendations GSALDEN.
