July 18, 20214 yr Hi, everybody, I have verified that with more active mods (airports and scenery) the fps drops. For example: with the default airport LEVC, Manises, Valencia, with airports and scenery (mesh, etc.) loaded from France, Italy, Austria and USA, I have 20-22 fps. But without any scenery addon: 30-31 fps! Therefore, it is convenient to load each time only those scenarios in which the flight is to be carried out.
July 18, 20214 yr doesnt surprise me. i liked the fsx system better with a repository that only changed when you added/removed something.
July 18, 20214 yr Any add on scenery that is applicable to the area you are flying in will impact FPS. That includes scenery and mesh. Scenery from the other side of the world surely won’t. Could it be that an addon is not optimized and not updated for the latest world update that is causing your FPS to drop. I agree in principle that the more addons you have in an area will lower FPS such as city packs, but I saw lots of freeware airports do compatibility updates when SimUpdate came out. July 18, 20214 yr Well from what I have seen, more mods definitely affect loading time as it scans the whole community folder on start up. But the sim only loads what it needs for the particular area you are flying in, so as Raptyr has said, any scenery outside of your current flight area is irrelevant, and should not affect the frame rate. It is obvious that addons in your current flight area such as airports and mesh, will of course. My community folder is packed full, and although loading time is longer, I have no drop in FPS other than what I would expect for the addon airport I am flying out of. I use a lot of default airports (Sedona etc.), and although I have a packed community folder, there is no frame rate loss there. Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). With this utility it is very easy to select which addons do you want active. The last three or four days I noticed that the fps were very low. I didn't know why, but I realized that I had quite a lot of addons active, so I decided to empty the selection and the fps were higher (in my system are around 30, sometimes a little more). Then I got off the Flight Simulator and I selected the same scenarios and airports that I had before and then the fsp drop again. The areas that I had active were not especially near the area of flight, which was surprising! Edited July 18, 20214 yr by John Fields
July 18, 20214 yr Glad I am happy with the default airports and scenery. I purchased one , Key West airport, and that is it. Excellent FPS and should be even better then end of July. Edited July 18, 20214 yr by Bobsk8

I continue to make great use of the venerable SceneryConfigEditor app with FSX SE much like I use the Addons Linker now with MSFS. Same principle. With FSX it regards load times, smooth transitions when flying, and minimal if not absent OOM's. With FSX SE I have Megascenery Earth V3 scenery in use during every flight and selecting what loads and what does not load makes a lot of difference. July 18, 20214 yr Author Hi, If you use Addons Linker you may activate just the airports or sceneries where you have to fly. I'm doing that and after the flight I close Flight Simulator. Then I select the new areas and the loading time of FS2020 is very short. I have to wait less time.

July 18, 20214 yr The only difference I noticed is longer loading times, performance is the same no matter how much I have loaded into the community folder. System: I ASRock X670E | AMD 7800X3D | 64Gb DDR5 6000 | RTX 4090 | 2TB NVMe | Seasonic Vertex 1000W I LG Ultra Gear 34 UW I

This so obvious for a plane (I.e. the complex airliner you are flying) and system based mods like a map or weather update. I've not seen this with scenery apart from the impact of local scenery mods and I have 1000's of installed scenery mods. Can you give a specific example? If you have evidence of the number of non region specific mods effecting the local area sim performance, this needs to be feed back to Asobo.
